The 2025 high school football season kicks off on August 21st. To get ready for the upcoming season, we’re counting down the top 10 teams in the 615 Preps coverage area. Riverdale is our No. 4 team.

Upholding the rich history of Riverdale football is something that head coach Will Kreisky expects of his team every single year.

Senior come and go but the Warriors typically don’t have to rebuild like several other programs do. They reload and the 2025 edition of the Warriors features several new faces mixed with several familiar.

As a whole, it also appears that it may be one of the more balanced teams Kreisky’s had in recent memory.

“We’ve had teams with one side being stronger than the other in the past but this year could be more balanced,” Kreisky noted. “We’ve still got a long ways to go. We lost a lot skill-wise on offense from last year and that does worry me but the kids have worked hard.”

One of the new additions on the Warriors offense that could help in the department of replacing for skill standouts is Corben Reynolds.

A transfer from Loretto, Reynolds was one of the MidState’s top pass-catchers, regardless of class, in 2024. His junior season saw him haul in 42 receptions for 801 yards and 12 touchdowns.

In the short time he’s been with the Warriors, Reynolds acknowledged a bit of a culture shock but says he’s come to embrace the difference from 2A to 6A ball.

“It was a lot adjusting to do to be honest,” Reynolds said. “Everyone is faster and stronger at this level but if I want to play at the next level, I have to adjust myself and play with better competition. Being here lets me do that.”

Warriors high on sophomore quarterback

Throwing Reynolds the ball will also be another new face on the Warriors roster in rising sophomore quarterback Gavin Hampton.

Transferring in to Riverdale following his freshman year at Ravenwood, Hampton has all the looks of a future Division I quarterback and the arm talent to prove.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pounder already holds offers from Power Four programs like Maryland, Mississippi State and Nebraska.

The connection between Hampton and his receivers is one that the young quarterback is proud of.

“All my my guys are special,” Hampton said. “I trust every single one of them to catch the ball whenever I throw it to them. We built a lot of chemistry over the offseason through spring and summer ball.”
