615 Preps preseason top 10: Nashville Christian enters the year at No. 10

The 2025 high school football season kicks off on August 21st. To get ready for the upcoming season, we’re counting down the top 10 teams in the 615 Preps coverage area. Nashville Christian is our No. 10 team.

Jared Curtis gave Nashville Christian an advantage over every other Division II-A program last year well before T.J. Ward was eligible to play.

Once Ward got in the mix, he meshed instantly and a state championship run was all but guaranteed.

As great as that run was, the Eagles couldn’t help but look forward to 2025 with the roster they had coming back. The future has become the present and with everyone eligible along with a few new transfers, Nashville Christian enters the 2025 season as the overwhelming favorite to repeat as the DII-A champions.

“This year we’ve got the largest senior class we’ve ever had,” Nashville Christian coach Jeff Brothers said. “A lot of guys in this class have come through this program. It’s exciting to see them come into their senior year with their last opportunity to serve their school and teammates.”

While the Eagles are loaded in nearly every position group, their two stars are future Power Four players. Curtis, a five-star quarterback, recommitted to Georgia in May and a month later, Ward announced his commitment to TCU.

Curtis cleaned up awards-wise last year winning DII-A Mr. Football honors, Gatorade Player of the Year honors and several other individual honors. He finished the year passing for 2,830 yards, 40 touchdowns and also rushed for 18 more scores.

As for Ward, he’s hoping to give Curtis a run for his money in the Mr. Football race while also playing a pivotal role in what hopes is another championship-winning season for the Eagles.

“I’m expecting for us to just take care of business like we did last year,” Ward said. “Getting to play in the games I did was fun but I get a full season and expect to win state again. For myself, I’m looking to rush for 2,000 yards and going for Mr. Football.

…when you get the both of us in the backfield, it’s going to be hard to stop us. We’ve got a great connection and I feel like we’re the best duo in the state.
