25 small class girls basketball players to watch this season

Yesterday we highlighted 75 boys players you need to see at some point during the season. Now we’re putting a spotlight on the area’s best girls players.

A few hours ago we highlighted 30 large class girls players you need to see at some point this season. Here are 25 small class players to add to that list.

The schools in our coverage area that make up the large class category consist of Class 2A, Class 1A and Division II-A programs.

*Notes: Stats for these players were obtained via an email sent out to coaches in the last week. These lists will also contain players who averaged 9 ppg or more and will have no more than four players from the same team.

LARGE CLASS BOYS: 45 large class boys basketball players to watch this season

SMALL CLASS BOYS: 30 small class boys basketball players to watch this season

DJ Haws, BGA, Sr.: Haws led the Lady Wildcats last season recording a near double-double at 15 points and eight rebounds per game.

Abbilyn Teter, Cannon County, Sr.: Teter scored a team-high 14.5 points last season and shot 37% from beyond-the-arc for the Lionettes. She also averaged 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals.

Anna Hellums, Clarksville Academy, Sr.: Heullums will look to build upon a junior season that saw her average 9.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

Cai’ra Simmons, Davidson Academy, Jr.: Simmons was a double-double machine last season for the Lady Bears averaging 11.1 points and 10.8 rebounds.

Madison McHenry, DCA, So.: McHenry will be a name to know going forward. She averaged 8.4 points and 7.5 rebounds as a freshman.

Brinli Bain, Eagleville, Sr.: Bain’s future lies in softball but she’s also pretty good on the court. She shot 40% from beyond-the-arc and averaged 10 points per game as a junior.

Madyson Elliott, East Nashville, Sr.: Elliott, a Kennesaw State, may be one of the best players in Metro Nashville this season. She averaged 14 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals last season.

Kennedy Thornton, East Nashville, Jr.: Thornton will be in her first full with the Lady Eagles this year. She averaged 20 points as a freshman and in four games at East last season, averaged 12 points and three steals.

Ida Bernard, East Robertson, Sr.: A senior leader for the Lady Indians, Bernard averaged 11.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals during her junior year.

Allye Pennington, East Robertson, So.: Pennington will be in the Miss Basketball mix for the remainder of her high school career. She averaged 24 points, three steals, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists as a freshman.

Brilee Price, Ezell-Harding, Jr.: Price is one three players who averaged double-digits last season for the Lady Eagles. She averaged a team-high 14 points along with 7.2 rebounds and 4.6 steals.

Aryanna Ridgeway, Ezell-Harding, Sr.: Ridgeway averaged close to a double-double last season at 11.7 points and a team-high 9.6 rebounds.

Reghan Williams, Ezell-Harding, Sr.: Williams averaged 13.2 points, 4.2 assists and 3.5 steals during her junior season.

Ella Johnson, FRA, Fr.: One half of the Lady Panthers’ standout eighth grade duo last season, Johnson averaged a team-high 14 points and shot 64.6% from the floor.

Ava Zenner, FRA, Fr.: Like Johnson, Zenner has a bright future ahead of her. She averaged 12.7 points, 4.2 assists and shot 36.8% from beyond-the-arc last season.

LaZaviona Hawkins, Goodpasture, Sr.: Hawkins led a balanced Lady Cougars squad to the Division II-A championship game last season. She averaged a team-high 12.7 points, 3.8 assists and 2.9 steals.

Brooklyn Jones, Goodpasture, So.: Jones is the spark plug to the Lady Cougars’ offense. She averaged 11.5 points, 3.1 steals, 2.5 rebounds and shot 44% from the floor.

Addi Ruffin, Goodpasture, Sr.: Ruffin played a pivotal role in leading the Lady Cougars to the DII-A championship game averaging 11.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.2 steals.

Madison Graham , MTCS, Jr.: Graham does a bit of everything for the Lady Cougars. She averaged 15.7 points and 3.5 rebounds during her sophomore season.

Anna Clay Shirley, MTCS, Jr.: Shirley’s been a name to know since her eighth grade year. Last season she averaged 18.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and shot 36% from beyond the 3-point line.

Aniston Allgood, Nashville Christian, So.: Allgood may have only been a freshman last season but she exploded onto the scene averaging 17.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

Dyna’c Davis, Pearl-Cohn, Sr.: Davis was a standout for the Lady Firebirds last season averaging 12.9 points, four rebounds and two steals.

Kayte Madison Bjornstad, PCA, Jr.: Bjornstad came onto the scene and became a presence in the post for the Lady Lions averaging a double-double at at 14 points and 10 rebounds per game.

Chloe Collins, Smith County, Sr.: Collins will lead the Lady Owls into the new season after averaging 11 points and 5.6 rebounds last season.

Emry Jones, Smith County, So.: A rising sophomore for the Lady Owls, Jones averaged 10 points, four assists and four rebounds during her freshman season.
