A day after decommitting from Kentucky, four-star East Robertson athlete Elijah Groves announced his commitment to NC State.
He announced the news on Twitter and his Instagram page.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder is ranked as a four-star prospect according On3 and 247Sports. 247 ranks Groves as the No. 130 player in the country and No. 2 player in Tennessee for the 2024 class.

On3 does not have Groves ranked in the 2024 On300 but the outlet does have him ranked as the No. 10 player in the state. ESPN has Groves ranked as the No. 9 player in the state while Rivals has him ranked at No. 21.
Groves played a pivotal role leading the Indians to the Class 2A championship game this season. East Robertson finished the year 13-2 and the state runner-up.
Defensively Groves was one of the Indians’ best racking up 76 total tackles, 15 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and four interceptions including a pair pick-six’s. He ended the year accounting for 1,081 all-purpose yards and 10 touchdowns.
In the Class 2A championship against Riverside, Groves capped off his high school career with two receptions for nine yards, four tackles, a tackle for loss and a crucial fumble recovery late in the game.
Groves is the 21st commitment in NC State’s 2024 recruiting class. According to 247 he is the Wolfpack’s highest-ranked commitment this cycle. On3 has him as the third highest-ranked commitment for the Wolfpack.
Following his commitment, 247 has NC State’s class ranked as the No. 28 class in the country. On3 has it ranked at No. 27.
