“First off I want to thank god for giving me a chance to further my football career to the next level,” Groves wrote in a post on X. “I want to thank all my family for putting a roof over my head and clothes on my back. I want to thank my high school coaches for taking me in not only as a athlete but as a son, but with all that being said I will be decommitting from Kentucky and opening my recruitment back up. I just ask y’all to respect my decision!”
Groves played a pivotal role leading the Indians to the Class 2A championship this season. The Indians finished the year 13-2 and the state runner-up.
He finished the year with 30 receptions for 506 yards and six touchdowns averaging 16.9 yards per catch. On defense he recorded 76 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and four interceptions.
Elijah is the older brother of East Robertson standouts Isaiah and Zach Groves. Both are also rising prospects holding multiple SEC offers. Isaiah is also a finalist for this year’s Class 2A Mr. Football award.
