District play is in full-swing now for teams across the state and through one full week, several teams in the 615 have gotten off to strong starts.
For others, it’s a mixed bag and others have started a step behind. That ensuing chaos has caused some shakeups in this week’s area rankings.
Based on the average of their selections, we came to a conclusion. Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 2A, 1A, and Division II-A.
Here’s a look at the top 20 girls teams in our area entering the second week of January.
Large Class
1. Green Hill (17-0): It was business as usual for the unbeaten Lady Hawks as they cruised past Gallatin 83-22 and closed out the week with a 54-33 win over Hendersonville.
2. Father Ryan (13-2): In a week full of chaos in the DII-AA scene, the Lady Irish weren’t on the wrong side of that as they beat Ensworth 50-46, Brentwood Academy 44-42 and Lipscomb Academy 52-48.
3. Ensworth (11-2): After losing to Father Ryan by four earlier in the week, the Lady Tigers bounced back by beating Harpeth Hall 49-37 and Brentwood Academy 48-33.
4. CPA (14-1): There were no letdowns last week for the Lady Lions. They cruised past Brentwood Academy 58-33 and closed out their week with an impressive 64-27 win over JPII.
5. Lebanon (14-3): Hendersonville gave the Devilettes a bit of a scare as Lebanon held on for a 56-48 but they had no issues with Gallatin winning 79-36.
Who just missed out: Page (11-5), Blackman (11-3)
Small Class
1. Ezell-Harding (18-0): The Lady Eagles continued their torrid start to the year with a dominant 67-26 win over Goodpasture. Three different players finished with double-figures in the win.
2. MTCS (15-1): It was business as usual for the Lady Cougars as they beat Columbia Academy by 24, St. Cecilia Academy by 80 and Webb-Bell Buckle by 16.
3. PCA (11-4): It was a solid week for the Lady Lions as they beat Franklin Christian 56-18, Webb-Bell Buckle 33-23 and GCA 64-12.
4. East Nashville (7-2): In their lone game of the week, the Lady Eagles crushed MLK 55-19.
5. FRA (13-3): A 56-55 win over BGA was the only close result of the week for the Lady Panthers as they rolled past GCA 64-24 and ZCA 89-25.
