Vanderbilt fans have had a 2025 to remember.
On the field the Commodores have put together one of their best seasons in decades led by a potential Heisman favorite. They also just signed Clark Lea to an extension that will keep the former Commodore star at his alma mater for the foreseeable future.
On Saturday Vanderbilt landed a key piece for the future as FRA junior standout Omarii Sanders announced his commitment to the program choosing Vanderbilt over the likes of Georgia, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
Sanders has been a pillar of FRA’s recent success leading them on both sides of the ball.
This season he’s found success as the program’s leading receiver along with one of their defensive standouts playing a mix at linebacker and safety.
The 6-foot-3.5, 210-pounder is highly-regarded bu all three of the major recruiting outlets.
Rivals ranks him as the No. 118 player in the 2027 cycle and the No. 5 player in the state. 247Sports is much higher on him ranking him No. 47 nationally and No. 4 in the state while ESPN has him at No. 50 nationally and also at No. 3 in the state.
If his commitment lasts all the way through, Sanders would be the first top-50 player to sign with Vanderbilt since recruiting sites have existed.
He took an official visit to Vanderbilt on October 25 for the program’s win over Missouri.
In FRA’s 49-21 semifinal win over Lausanne, he caught seven passes for 87 yards and a touchdown. FRA will play BGA next Thursday at 11 a.m. for the Division II-AA championship in Chattanooga.
