Football is inching closer to its and basketball has arrived.
Teams around the state swing into action on the hardcourt this week and will go all the way through March. The 615 is always loaded with great talent on the girls side and that’s no different this season.
We reached out to all of our area coaches a in the days leading up to the season to get a feel on who they’re expecting to stand out this season. squads are some names to be on a players to watch list.
Combing through all of their replies we put together a list of all the players in our coverage area who you need to go and check out at some point this season.
*Notes: Stats for these players were obtained via an email sent out to coaches in the last week. These lists will also contain players who averaged 9 ppg or more and will have no more than two players from the same team.
Blackman
Layla Hall: Hall broke onto the scene as a freshman shooting 46% from the floor and averaging 14 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
Brentwood Academy
Alayna Duhart: A junior, Duhart is a key three-year starter who earned All-Region honors by averaging 13 points, eight rebounds, and shooting an efficient 52 percent from the field.
Cane Ridge
Sa’Miya Brown: Brown, a junior forward, averaged 15.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.5 steals all while maintaining an overall GPA of 4.16. She was named District 11 4-A Player of the Year.
Cannon County
Abi Alexander: A senior and a Georgia Coastal College commit, Alexander was District 9AA Most Valuable Player, District Tournament Most Valuable Player, and earned All-Region honors while averaging 12.3 points, 2.6 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game.
Central Magnet
Madisen Stanley, Central Magnet: Stanley is a name on the rise those in Murfreesboro need to keep an eye on after she averaged 14 points and five rebounds as a freshman. T
Cheatham County
Gracie Belle Weakley: Weakley averaged 14.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, two assists, and two steals, entering her junior season she maintains the “all around contributor” quo.
CPA
Jane Ellis: Ellis returns as a proven scoring threat after averaging 11 points and six rebounds, while shooting 39.7% from three and 81.7% from the foul line, earning both DII-AA All-Region and DII-AA State All-Tournament honors last season.
Lily Morrow: Morrow is a senior leader who is primed to lead the Lions this year, as she averaged 18 points per game, 6.1 rebounds per game and made 63 shots from beyond the arch.

Dickson County
Keely Webb: Webb returns as a dynamic two-way playmaker after averaging 17.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.8 steals.
East Nashville
Kennedy Thornton: Thornton, Kentucky State pledge, was the District MVP and an all-region selection last year leading the Lady Eagles with 16.8 points, four assists and three rebounds per game.
Trinity McGee: McGee is a double-double machine for East averaging 12.2 points and 9.1 rebounds during her junior year.
Ezell-Harding
Brilee Price: Price is a dynamic returning leader who averaged 18.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 4.4 steals last season.

Father Ryan
Maddie Graham: Graham, a junior guard, returns as a steady offensive presence after averaging 12.1 points and 4.3 rebounds.
Caroline Kieffaber: Kieffaber, a junior forward, is back after posting 10.1 points and 5.2 rebounds a game last season, giving her team reliable production in the paint.
Franklin Road Academy
Ava Zenner: Zenner returns as an efficient scoring threat after averaging 13.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 40% from the field.
Ella Johnson: Johnson returns after a strong freshman season, averaging 14.1 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.8 steals while shooting 43.3% from the field.
Franklin
Cecile Brandimore: Brandimore, a Missouri commit, returns after averaging 26 points, 13 rebounds, and two steals while shooting 62% from the field and 70% from the free-throw line.
Goodpasture
Brooklyn Jones: A junior shooting guard, Jones was an All-District scorer who averaged 15.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and two steals per game.

Green Hill
Kataira Tolbert: A sophomore, Tolbert made a huge impact as a freshman by being named District 12AAAA Most Valuable Player and posted impressive numbers with 12.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game.
Hendersonville
Ilaiah Mack: Mack returns as Hendersonville’s do-it-all PG/SF, filling the stat sheet last season with 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists, three steals, and four deflections per game to anchor both ends of the floor.
Hillsboro
Eboni Donaldson: Donaldson returns after averaging 14.3 points, 4.5 assists, and four rebounds last season as a junior, providing steady production and leadership for the Burros.
Lebanon
Tiara Spencer: Spencer returns as a fast, high-energy playmaker after putting up 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 2.2 assists per game, giving her team a disruptive force on both ends.

Lipscomb Academy
Ava Jarrett: A senior and a Western Carolina University commit, Jarrett was a key member of the Final Four team, earning All-Region recognition while averaging 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.
Blake Maple: A junior and a Harding University commit, Maple was also a starter on the 27-4 Final Four team, contributing 9.4 points, two rebounds, 1.6 assists, and shooting 75 percent from the free throw line.
MTCS
Anna Clay Shirley: Shirley missed most of her junior season with a knee injury but was highly effective before the injury averaging 18.3 points and 4.4 rebounds.
Jade Watson: A transfer from Rockvale, Watson comes to MTCS after averaging 13.7 points as a sophomore and holding multiple in-state offers.
Mt. Juliet
Addyson Osborne: A sophomore point guard, Osborne quickly established herself as a top player, earning All-District and All-Region honors with averages of ten points, three assists, four rebounds, and two steals per game.
McClaine Ringenberg: A junior shooting guard, Ringenberg was named District Tournament Most Valuable Player and earned All-District recognition after averaging ten points, one assist, three rebounds, and two steals per game.
Nashville Christian
Aniston Allgood: A junior guard/forward, Allgood earned a Tennessee Miss Basketball Nomination and Tennessean All Mid-State Second Team honors after averaging 18 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block per game while hitting the 1,000-point milestone.
Hillary Harris: A senior guard, Harris was an All-District performer and earned All-District Tournament Team honors with averages of 12 points, four assists, and five rebounds per game.
Nolensville
Nyla Johnson: Johnson returns after averaging 13 points, three assists, and 3.2 steals while shooting 45% from the field, and she holds an offer from Tennessee Tech.

Overton
Erica Perkins: Perkins returns after a standout season, averaging 18 points, 5.6 rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
Page
Lily Espelet: A senior guard/forward and a University of Tennessee at Martin commit, Espelet is a top prospect who averaged 7.8 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game, 1.6 assists per game, 1.8 steals per game, and one block per game.
Jordyn Maddox: A junior guard, Maddox was an All-State standout, earning Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association All-State Team and BCAT AAA All-State Team honors after averaging 15 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.6 steals per game with excellent efficiency, shooting 88.4 percent from the free throw line and 44.9 percent from the field.
Portland
Guorchiek Mut: Mut shined as a freshman for the Lady Panthers averaging 12.5 points, six rebounds and 3.5 steals per game.
Providence Christian Academy
Kayte Madison Bjornstad: A senior and a Samford University commit, Bjornstad is a powerful forward expected to lead the team, having averaged 17 points and nine rebounds per game.
Eva Birkofer: A sophomore, Birkofer was a significant two-way contributor, averaging 13.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game.

Pearl-Cohn
Valencia Hailey: Hailey, a sophomore combo guard, was highly decorated with All-District, All-District Tournament, All-Metro Team, and All-Region Tournament honors, posting all-around stats of 12.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.4 steals.
Rileigh Miller: Miller a sophomore shooting guard, was an All-District performer and District Tournament MVP, averaging 8.5 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game, two steals per game, one assist per game, and knocking down 42 three-pointers.
Pope John Paul II
Brooke Dyer: Dyer returns after averaging 16.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.7 steals last season, giving Pope John Paul II a versatile playmaker on both ends of the floor.
Rockvale
Amaya Nash, Rockvale: Nash will be leaned upon heavily this year after averaging 12.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.1 steals last season.
Siegel
Neela Alexander, Siegel: Alexander was a star for the Lady Stars last year averaging 10 points and eight rebounds.
Smith County
Emry Jones: Jones, a sophomore point guard, is a dynamic floor general who averaged ten points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3.5 steals per game, bringing energy, playmaking, and lockdown defense.
Valor College Preparatory
Kobe Cotton: Cotton, a phenomenal freshman forward, was a record-breaking eighth grader who earned District 10A Most Valuable Player, All-Tournament, and All-Region honors while averaging 17.2 points, seven rebounds, five steals, and recording the first triple-double in school history.
Tamiya McClain: A junior shooting guard, McClain was an All-District performer, contributing 9.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, two assists, and 3.4 steals per game.
Watertown
Molly Followill: Followill had an efficient sophomore season that saw her average 10.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and four assists.
