Colder weather can’t decide whether it wants to stay or go here in Middle Tennessee. What has come and will be staying through March is the high school basketball season.
The 615 is always loaded with elite talent on the hardcourt and this year is no different.
We reached out to all of our area coaches a in the days leading up to the season to get a feel on who they’re expecting to stand out this season. squads are some names to be on a players to watch list.
Combing through all of their replies we put together a list of all the players in our coverage area who you need to go and check out at some point this season.
*Notes: Stats for these players were obtained via an email sent out to coaches in the last week. These lists will also contain players who averaged 9 ppg or more and will have no more than two players from the same team.
BGA
Lawson Lee: A Samford commit and senior transfer from Siegel, Lee one of the top returners in the area ready to anchor his new team after averaging 15 points per game, seven rebounds per game, and two blocks per game last season.
Zander Holt: A senior transfer guard from Dickson County, Holts comes in as a key facilitator and scorer for the Wildcats, averaging 13 points per game, five rebounds per game, and four assists per game last year.
Beech
Cutter Sisk: A Wofford commit senior, Sisk is back to dominate the glass and score at will, having posted 23 points per game, 11 rebounds per game, and two blocks per game last season.

Blackman
Dorien Lyles: Lyles returns as one of the district’s top scorers, ready to build on last year’s 13 points and five rebounds per game.
Jayln McDonald: McDonald earned District 8-4A tournament Most Valuable Player honors as a junior, averaging 11.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game last season.
Brentwood Academy
James Humphreys: Humphreys is a rising star on the national scene following a freshman season where he averaged 10 points and six rebounds for the Eagles.
Bryson Wade: Wade emerged as the Eagles’ go-to guy last season as a sophomore averaging 16 points, four rebounds and four assists per game.
Brentwood
Davis Cochran: Cochran’s a 6-foot-9 junior, broke onto the scene after a standout sophomore season that saw him average 18.3 points and just over eight rebounds a game.
Jackson McCutcheon: A senior sharpshooter, McCutcheon shot from beyond-the-arc at a clip of 45% per game while averaging 11.5 points per game.

Cannon County
Lukas Phillips: Back for his senior year, Phillips is back as an all-district and region star, averaging 14.9 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, and 3.3 assists per game with an efficient 55 percent field goal and 43.2 percent three-point shooting.
Miles Alexander: Alexander had a fantastic sophomore season averaging 15.4 points per game and 4.7 assists per game while earning first-team all-district and region honors.
Cane Ridge
Tyshaun Poore: Poore was a reliable option during his junior year averaging 9.4 points per game and 1.4 steals per game.
CPA
Ayden Glenn: Glenn all-region honorable mention as a freshman putting up 12.6 points per game, three rebounds per game, 3.4 assists per game, and 1.3 steals per game last year.
Eagleville
Camden Cole: A 6-foot-3-inch senior forward, Cole averaged 14 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game, and 2.2 assists per game last season.
East Nashville
Cortez Murphy: Once he’s finished blowing past defenders on the gridiron, Murphy will be back on the hardcourt as the Eagles’ top-returning scorer after averaging 16 points and three steals per game.
Dallas Covington: Like he did in football, Covington had a great sophomore season playing basketball averaging 13 points and five assists per game.
Ensworth
Steven Sherman: Sherman, a senior sharpshooter and LaVergne transfer, knocked down 68 three-pointers last year while averaging 16.4 points per game, three rebounds per game, and 1.5 steals per game.
Ezell-Harding
Zay Bridges: The Eagles return quite a bit this year including one of their leading scorers in Bridges who averaged 13.6 points alongside 4.6 rebounds and three assists per game.
Noah Kaufmann: Kaufmann ran the point well last season for the Eagles averaging 12 points, 5.1 assists and three rebounds per game.

Father Ryan
Micheal Fisch: Fisch hit three-pointers at a clip of 40% for the Fighting Irish and will be relied upon heavily to lead a fairly young squad this season.
Franklin Road Academy
Lucas Kinnard: Kinnard shined as a freshman putting up 14 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game last season.
Goodpasture
Jacobi Morris: On what should be a fairly young Cougars squad, Morris is a senior leader who will be one of their top-scorers after averaging eight points and shooting over 40 percent from three-point range last year.
Gordonsville
J. Foster: Foster is a dual-sport star for the Tigers and will lead them on the hardcourt this year after averaging 11 points and shooting 35% from beyond-the-arc last season.
Green Hill
Jaylen Searcy: returns as a strong defender and rebounder, putting up nine points per game, seven rebounds per game, and 1.5 steals per game last season.
Harpeth
CJ Turner: Turner’s a junior guard for the Indians who averaged 9.3 points, six rebounds and two assists during his sophomore year.
Hillsboro
Jaiden Pugh: A transfer from Cane Ridge, Pugh will be the Burros’ go-to scorer this year after averaging 14.9 points and 4.8 rebounds with the Ravens.
Hume-Fogg
Isiah Ring: Ring is one of the area’s most exciting players and will be one of few senior leaders on the Blue Knights after averaging 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals per game as a junior.

Lawson
Chandler Galloway: Galloway put up some big numbers during his sophomore year averaging 18.6 points and 6.5 rebounds winning District MVP honors.
Liberty Creek
Drew Massey: Massey shined during his freshman season with the Wolves averaging 10.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
Lipscomb Academy
Cam Blivins: A Mr. Basketball finalist last year and Columbia football commit, Blivens comes back as the Mustangs top scorer and defensive spark, averaging 24.6 points, six rebounds and 2.8 steals per game.
Nash Stark: Nash was a reliable double-double threat last year for the Mustangs averaging 13.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
Macon County
McKade Mix: Mix was an all-district selection last season 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.1 assist while shooting 80 percent from the free-throw line and hitting 49 three-pointers.
MLK
Eden Nandzo: Nandzo emerged as a rising star for the Royals during his sophomore campaign averaging 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists per game.
MTCS
Elijah Carter: Carter’s a 6-foot-7-inch junior forward who earned all-district honors averaging 15 points per game and 5 rebounds per game last season for Spring Hill.
Nolensville
Chris Johnson: Johnson averaged 13 points, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks per game as a junior for the Knights.
Ryland McKelvy: A Centennial transfer, McKelvy is a versatile guard who put up 14 points, six rebounds, four assist and 1.5 steals per game.
Oakland
Yeshiyah Cobb: Cobb should once again be a major scoring threat for the Patriots after averaging 13 points as a junior.
Josh Wiley: Wiley was a reliable scorer last season as a junior for the Patriots averaging nine points per game.
Providence Christian Academy
Chris Washington Jr.: Washington is the state’s top prospect and earned state tournament MVP honors last year with the Lions. On the season he averaged 16 points, seven rebounds and shot 54% from the field.

Pope John Paul II
Osby Cavin: Cavin should enjoy one last season with the Knights before heading to Montevallo. He’s one of the area’s deadliest shooters who averaged 15.9 points, 3.9 assists and three rebounds per game as a junior.
Trey Pearson: Pearson impressed on the AAU circuit and will shine again before heading to High Point. Last season he averaged 14.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.5 steals per game.

Portland
Keilen Dalton: After staring on the football field for one last season, Dalton is ready to shine once again on the hardcourt after averaging 15 points as a junior.
Nate Honeycutt: Honeycutt proved to be a valuable option for the Panthers last season averaging 12 points per game.
Ravenwood
Sam Stepan: Stepan is a senior transfer from California where he was a league MVP on his old team averaging 17 points and 7.6 rebounds.
Rockvale
Alijah France: France had a great junior year for the Rockets averaging 13 points and five steals per game.
Smyrna
Yon Kinzer: Kinzer put up impressive numbers last season for the Bulldogs averaging 16 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
Springfield
Jalen Chapman: Chapman gives the Yellow Jackets a true scoring threat after averaging 14.5 points as a sophomore.
Stewarts Creek
Sean Goggins: Last season as a sophomore, Goggins averaged 15.3 points per game and 5.6 rebounds while shooting an efficient 72.3%, proving himself to be a dangerous weapon.
Summit
Ford DeShazo: DeShazo is a senior transfer from GCA where averaged 14.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 2.3 blocks per game last season.
Joel Coverston: A 6-foot-5-inch junior, Coverston comes back to provide steady production after averaging 14 points and six rebounds per game as a sophomore.
Sycamore
Carter Wallace: Wallace returns with promising scoring and rebounding potential, averaged 11.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per game as a sophomore.
University School of Nashville
Braylin Davis: Davis, a senior point guard, comes back as a consistent scorer and distributor, putting up 13.8 points, five rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
Valor College Preparatory
Ter Thatch: A junior 6-foot-5-inch center, Thatch comes back as a reliable presence in the paint, averaging 11.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.
White House
Louis Taylor: A senior power forward, Taylor returns as a consistent scorer and veteran leader, averaging 17 points per game and reaching the 1,000 career points milestone as a junior.
White House Heritage
Avery Coles: Coles enters his senior year as one of the area’s best after averaging 16 points and eight rebounds during a standout junior season.
