615 Preps Football: 30 returning quarterbacks to know in 2025

Spring has arrived, meaning we’re just a few short months away from the 2025 high school football kicking off. That means it’s a perfect time for some preview action to prepare you for the upcoming season.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll have pieces twice a week highlighting certain position groups and the top area players in those groups to keep an eye on in the new season.

These lists will include area players who were statistically some of the area’s best in 2024. All submissions were also sent in with stats provided by their coaches.

Up first, the signal-callers. Here are 30 returning Nashville area quarterbacks you need to keep an eye on during the 2024 season:

Andre Adams, Antioch, Jr.: Adams finished his sophomore season completing 67% of his passes for 2,121 yards and 17 touchdowns, while also rushing for 781 yards and 11 scores on 101 carries.

Kaden Powell, Beech, Sr.: Powell did it all for the Bucs last season tallying 945 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground while also passing for 1,049 passing yards and 10 touchdowns. 

Kaedyn Marable, BGA, Sr.: Marable led BGA to the top-scoring offense in Division II-AA last season, throwing for 3,293 yards and 35 touchdowns while rushing for 506 yards and 13 more touchdowns

Marcus Cameron, Blackman, Jr.: Cameron is looking to build upon a 2024 season that saw him throw for 569 yards and 7 touchdowns across seven games. 

JC White, Brentwood, Sr.: White heads into his senior season looking to turn heads after throwing for 1,106 yards and nine touchdowns last year, while also rushing for 261 yards and two scores.

Eli Garrett, Cannon County, Sr.: Garrett earned Second Team All-Region honors with 1,634 passing yards and 14 touchdowns, and he’s coming back determined to climb to First Team status.

Mitchell Grandjean, Centennial, Sr.: Grandjean brings his dual-threat ability to the Cougars for his senior after throwing for 1,041 yards and 9 touchdowns, while rushing for 418 yards and 8 touchdowns with Page in 2024.

Ksaun Barksdale, Davidson Academy, Jr.: Barksdale came on the scene as a sophomore and shined contributing 1,555 passing yards and 17 touchdowns.

Dallas Covington, East Nashville, Sr.: Covington exploded for 14 passing touchdowns and totaled 1,347 yards in just seven games last year. A full, healthy season could put him among the state’s most dangerous dual-threat quarterbacks.

Kason Young, East Robertson, Jr.: A Mr. Football finalist in 2024, Young burst on onto the scene throwing for 2,007 yards and rushing for 650 yards while totaling 29 touchdowns.

Taylor Hasselbeck, Ensworth, Sr.: Hasselbeck proved himself to be one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the state last season completing 71% of his passes for 1,790 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Jax McCoy, Fairview, Sr.: McCoy only played in one game last year due to a season-ending injury but impressed, going 16-for-24 with 320 yards and four touchdowns.

Hudson Holman, FRA, Jr.: A two-year starter at JPII, Holman will be looking to elevate his game even further in the Panthers’ explosive offense. Last year he threw for 1,802 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Luke Sellars, Friendship Christian, Sr.: Sellars looks to build off a solid junior year where he threw for 724 yards and six touchdowns.

Jackson Stroup, Gallatin, Sr.: An All-Region selection in 2024, Stroup heads into his senior season after passing for 1,845 yards and 18 touchdowns, while also rushing for 129 yards and 3 touchdowns.

J Foster, Gordonsville, Sr.: Foster looks to take the next step as a senior after throwing for 753 yards and six touchdowns and rushing for four more scores last season.

Kannon Burroughs, Green Hill, Sr.: A Mr. Football semifinalist and Region 4-6A MVP, Burroughs returns after combining for 2,623 total yards and 27 touchdowns in a massive junior season.

Trey Hodges, Hillsboro, Sr.: An All-City standout, Hodges led the Burros with 1,359 passing yards and totaled 15 touchdowns.

Ka’Juan Taylor, Lawson, Jr.: A true dual-threat weapon, Taylor rushed for 461 yards and 8 touchdowns while adding 443 passing yards and three more touchdowns.

Ty Snell, Lipscomb Academy, Fr.: Snell played in just five games as an eighth grader and showed he was ready for the varsity challenge. In those five games he was 74-for-112 with 893 yards and four touchdowns.

Hugh Price, MBA, Sr: An injury early in the season limited Price to only five games last season. In the five games he did play, the Southern Miss commitment passed for 540 yards and three touchdowns.

Jared Curtis, Nashville Christian, Jr.: The reigning DII-A Mr. Football winner, Gatorade Tennessee Player of the Year, MaxPreps All-American and Georgia commitment, Curtis threw for 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns while rushing for 637 yards and 18 touchdowns.

LJ Funk, Pearl-Cohn, Jr.: Funk heads into his junior year after a breakout sophomore season with the Firebirds where he passed for 2,098 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Femi Babalola, Ravenwood, Sr. A proven playmaker, Babalola is back to guide Ravenwood after totaling 1,248 yards and 11 touchdowns with both his big-time arm.

Maverick Chance, Ravenwood, Sr.: One of the most dynamic players in the area, Chance returns after throwing for 640 yards and four touchdowns while also racking up 950 rushing yards and 19 rushing touchdowns for the Raptors.

Kason Woodson, Springfield, Jr.: After throwing for over 1,600 yards and 16 touchdowns, Woodson is primed for a breakout junior year as one of Springfield’s top offensive weapons.

Colton Overbey, Station Camp, Jr.: Following a huge sophomore season with 3,000 combined yards and 22 total touchdowns, Overbey returns as one of the most versatile and dangerous athletes in the region.

Blake Waldorf, Watertown, Jr.: With 2,668 passing yards and 26 touchdowns already under his belt, Waldorf is set to make even more noise in what could be a huge junior season.

Xavier Murray, White House Heritage, Jr.: Murray is coming off a jaw-dropping season with 3,016 yards and 43 touchdowns — and he’s aiming even higher as a senior.

Deon Barnes, Whites Creek, So.: Barnes broke on the scene as a freshman for the Cobras completing 59% of his passes for 1,719 yards and 20 touchdowns.
