We’re putting a bow on the high school basketball season with some all-area team selections.
Yesterday we kicked off offseason honors with our large class all-area boys teams. Now it’s time to highlight the all-area large class girls teams.
The 615 Preps large class coverage area includes teams in Division II-AA as well as Classes 4A and 3A.
Players selected to these teams are selected based on their season-long stats and nominations from their head coaches. Here’s a look at those selected to the second ever 615 Preps large class teams:
Player of the Year
Ella Ryan, Brentwood, Sr.

Ryan’s been a walking bucket since the first time she stepped onto the court as a freshman. The area’s lone Miss Basketball finalist, she capped her career as a 2,000-point scorer.
This season she led the Lady Bruins to the District 10-4A regular season and tournament title, a substate appearance and 25 wins. For the season she averaged 24 points, five rebounds, three steals and 2.8 assists per game.
Coach of the Year
Becky Starks, Lipscomb Academy

A year removed from an 18-15 record and a first round exit in the state tournament, Starks’ Lady Mustangs were arguably the best team in the 615 this season regardless of class.
She led the program to a 27-4 record and the DII-AA Middle Region championship. The Lady Mustangs made it to the DII-AA semifinals where they pushed eventual state champion Knox Webb to the end.
