Cortez Graham-Howard headlines 2024-2025 615 Preps All-Area large class boys basketball teams

We’re putting a bow on the high school basketball season with some all-area team selections.

Up first, the large class boys teams. The 615 Preps large class coverage area includes teams in Division II-AA as well as Classes 4A and 3A.

Players selected to these teams are selected based on their season-long stats and nominations from their head coaches. Here’s a look at those selected to the second ever 615 Preps large class teams:

Player of the Year

Cortez Graham-Howard, Hillsboro, Sr.

A Mr. Basketball finalist, Graham-Howard didn’t average the most points per game for a player in our area, but Hillsboro’s run to the program’s first state title ran through him.

A North Alabama signee, he averaged 17 points, six rebounds and six assists this season for the Burros. In their three state tournament games he averaged 17.6 points and six rebounds including a 20-point performance in their championship win over Oak Ridge.

Coach of the Year

Rodney Thweatt, Hillsboro

Thweatt’s been building something at Hillsboro since his arrival in 2006. This. season that all came to fruition.

The Burros finished the season raising gold for the first time in school history. They finished the season 35-4 and it was the first time since Pearl High School’s 1981 squad that a Metro Nashville school won a large class state championship.

First Team

Guard

Jonathan Sanderson, Ensworth, Jr.

Why chosen: In his first season playing in Tennessee, Sanderson stood out. A Mr. Basketball finalist, the top-50 2026 guard averaged 24 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.

Guard

Cam Blivens, Lipscomb Academy, Jr.

Why chosen: A standout for the Mustangs on the court and gridiron, Blivens was at his best this season becoming a Mr. Basketball finalist. He averaged 24.6 points, six rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

Forward

Christian Brown, Franklin, Sr.

Why chosen: Brown is a legit Division I player and played like it all season. The James Madison signee averaged 20.8 points and shot 63% from the field while also averaging 10.9 rebounds and two blocks.

Forward

Cutter Sisk, Beech, Jr.

Why chosen: Sisk showed promising signs of a breakout year as a sophomore. This season he took charge for the Bucs averaging 22.6 points, 11.2 rebounds and 1.9 blocks.

Center

Cade Bennerman, Father Ryan, Sr..

Why chosen: A Northwestern signee and the region tournament MVP, Bennerman led the Irish to the DII-AA state quarterfinals averaging 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.

Sixth Man

Collin O’Neal, MBA, Sr.

Why chosen: The DII-AA Middle Region Player of the Year and a Furman signee, O’Neal led the Big Red to the state semifinals averaging 19 points, six rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

Second Team

Guard: Tylan Lewis, Independence, Sr.

Guard: Landon Bryant, La Vergne, Sr.

Forward: Kamden Days, Pope John Paul II, Sr.

Forward: Michael Nwoye, Hume-Fogg, Sr.

Center: Davis Cochran, Brentwood, So.

6th: Trey Pearson, Pope John Paul II, Jr.

Third Team

Guard: Osby Cavin, Pope John Paul II, Jr.

Guard: Daniel Patton, Centennial, Sr.

Forward: Chandler Galloway, Lawson, So.

Forward: Alonzo Rhodes Jr., Hume-Fogg, Sr.

Center: Ghana Solongo, Ensworth, Jr.

6th: Armani Smith, Kirkwood, So.
