Girls players from the 615 Preps coverage area who should be in the Miss Basketball conversations

As quickly as the season started, we’re now at the point of the year where Mr. and Miss Basketball conversations are starting to begin.

Our coverage area once again is full of talent that needs to be in those discussions. While we already knew some of those names, we decided to reach out to all of our area coaches to get their takes on who needs to be involved.

Below is a list of 15 of those players, nominated by their coach, who we think need to be included in this year’s Mr. Basketball conversations.

*Note: Stats are current as of Jan. 31*

Class 4A

Cecilie Brandimore, Franklin, Jr.: Brandimore’s emerged as one of Williamson County’s top players during her junior season. She’s averaging 26.8 points and 13.1 rebounds along with three blocks per game.

Mary Elizabeth Fox, Page, Sr.: A long-time standout for the Lady Patriots, Fox is averaging 14.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.5 assists during her senior season.

Lyriq Mastin, Blackman, Sr.: A senior leader on a team loaded with young talent, Mastin’s proven to be one of Murfreesboro’s best. She’s averaging 19.3 points and 4.4 rebounds.

Ella Ryan, Brentwood: Ryan surpassed the 2,000-point mark this season and has her name fully in the Miss Basketball conversation averaging 23.7 points, five rebounds and three steals per game.

Malon Smith, Clarksville, Sr.: The Lady Wildcats are once again unbeaten going late into the season and Smith is a big reason why. She’s averaging 20.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.1 steals and 4.5 assists per game.

Class 1A

Allye Pennington, East Robertson, So.: An up-and-coming star, Pennington is Pennington is averaging 22.4 points, 3.6 assistsm 2.6 steals, 2.5 rebounds and shooting 41.4% from beyond-the-arc.

Division II-AA

Ava Krumwiede, Harpeth Hall, Sr.: Krumwiede’s been a standout for the Honeybears for awhile now and is averaging 16.1 points and 7.7 rebounds this season.

Lily Morrow, CPA, Jr.:  Morrow broke on the scene as a sophomore and has only gotten better this year. She’s aveaging 20.7 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Lions.

Bella Shepherd, Lipscomb Academy, Jr.: Shepherd leads a balanced Lady Mustangs scoring attack averaging 14.3 points along with 4.2 rebounds.

Division II-A

Aniston Allgood, Nashville Christian, So.: Allgood’s had a standout sophomore season for the Lady Eagles averaging a double-double at 18.9 points per game and 10 rebounds.

Kayte Madison Bjornstad, PCA, Jr.: Shooting 52% from the floor, Bjornstad leads one of the state’s top DII-A teams averaging 16 points and 8.6 rebounds.

Brilee Price, Ezell-Harding, Jr.: The Lady Eagles hit the 20-win mark already with Price leading the way. She’s averaging 15.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 4.2 steals per game.

Lazaviona Hawkins, Goodpasture, Sr.: Hawkins does it all for the Lady Cougars averaging a team-high 14.7 points along with 4.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 steals.

Brooklyn Jones, Goodpasture, So.: Hawkins’ back-court partner, Jones has been a spark plug for the Lady Cougars averaging 14.6 points, 2.4 rebound and 2.4 steals.

Ashley Rucker, MTCS, Jr.: Rucker’s made a name for herself this season in the DII-A scene averaging 16 points, eight rebounds and two steals per game.
