The postseason inches closer and closer. For some schools next week it will arrive. Others, they’ve got a few more games left to play.

There were also a few results last week that provided some changes in this week’s area rankings.

Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA.

Here’s a look at the top 20 teams in our area entering the fifth week of the season.

Large Class

1. Hillsboro (23-5): After beating Overton by 24, the Burros got a test at home from Cane Ridge. They pulled away in the second half for the 71-54 win.

2. Pope John Paul II (24-3): It was a scary opening to the week for the Knights as they held off Brentwood Academy 56-52. They looked better in their next game rolling past CPA 60-41.

3. Hume-Fogg (20-3): Make it back-to-back 20-win seasons for the Blue Knights. Neither Glencliff or VCA posed much of a threat as they averaged each win by an average of 49 points.

4. MBA (21-4): The Big Red struggled to get going in their first game of the week losing at Lipscomb Academy 49-36. They bounced back a few days later with a pair of wins over Brentwood Academy.

5. Father Ryan (17-7): It was a good week for Irish fans. They watched their boys beat Ensworth 42-26 and hold off Lipscomb Academy 60-56.
