Rockvale four-star safety Jaylan Morgan is staying in SEC country but he’s heading a state over once his high school career comes to an end. Morgan announced his commitment to Georgia on Monday.
The 6-foot-0, 187-pounder chose the Bulldogs over Florida, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
Georgia extended an offer to Morgan on April 18. He took his first visit to Athens just over a month later on May 19 and returned on June 21 for his official.
Morgan’s been a standout on the Rockets defense since he was a freshman. He’s a three-year starter racking up offers from nearly every Power Four program along the way.
Over the last two seasons he’s accounted for 90 tackles, 20 pass breakups, and three interceptions.

According to On3’s Industry Ranking, Morgan is a four-star recruit ranked as the No. 252 player in the country, the No. 24 safety in the class and the No. 5 player in the state. He’s ranked as the state’s highest defensive back and the second highest defensive player behind Ensworth defensive lineman Ethan Utley.
Three of the four major recruiting outlets has Morgan ranked as a four-star prospect. Rivals has the highest ranking for him as the site has him as the No. 150 player in the 2025 class.
Morgan is the 18th commitment in Georgia’s 2025 recruiting class. According to On3, the class sits at No. 5 nationally. With several top prospects still in the mix, the Bulldogs will likely inch back up towards the top three.
Georgia recruiting well in the midstate since 2019
With Jaylan Morgan’s commitment, Georgia now holds pledges from two of the prospects in Middle Tennessee.
Brentwood Academy offensive lineman Shivon Shivers committed to the Bulldogs on March 22. Shivers’ commitment came when he was enrolled at Humboldt but he transferred to Brentwood Academy following his junior season.
Georgia coming into Tennessee’s backyard and landing top prospects is nothing new especially under Kirby Smart.
Last cycle the Bulldogs landed one of the nation’s top prospects in former CPA defensive back Ondre Evans. Evans’ CPA teammate London Humphreys also transferred to Athens following a breakout freshman season at Vanderbilt.
Since 2019 the Bulldogs have landed eight commitments from Middle Tennessee prospects.
They also hold a commitment from Nashville Christian five-star quarterback Jared Curtis. Curtis is considered by each major recruiting outlet as one of the nation’s top 2026 recruits.
