We’re two months away from the high school football season officially kicking off. That means it’s not too early to make some state championship predictions right?
Over the last week we’ve broke down who each of the 615 Preps crew thinks will bring home gold in December. Cam, Chris, Ethan, Isaac and Joe have given their predictions.
Now it’s time for KJ Harris aka the pride of the Beech Buccaneers. Here’s a look at who he thinks will bring home this year’s gold balls:
RANKING THE BEST OF THE BEST: Picking the area’s top coaches
TOP RETURNERS PER POSITION: QB / RB / WR / OL / DL / LB / DB / Specialists
Class 6A
Oakland Patriots
Oakland seems well-positioned to bounce back and return to the top of Class 6A.
With key players such as Daune Morris back, this team possesses a strong and experienced lineup that should dominate on the field. Last season’s losses in both the region and state title games should serve as motivation to get the back to the top.
Class 5A
Page Patriots
I think this is the year that Page finally gets over the hump. Returning key starters like Eric Hazzard and Brenden Anes, they should have a formidable defense that will be hard for any team to score on.
This team is determined to overcome their past defeats to Knoxville West two years in a row, claiming the championship title and using their hunger and motivation to propel them to victory.
Class 4A
Pearl-Cohn Firebirds
My best bet is that the Firebirds run it back repeating as the Class 4A champs.
Coach Brunetti is determined to add another championship to their collection and has this group focused. Despite the loss of key players to graduation, the Firebirds are in good hands with senior running back Javion Kinnard leading the way in what could be a Mr. Football type of year.

Class 3A
Alcoa Tornadoes
Alcoa’s set to claim its 10th consecutive state championship in 3A.
Their exceptional performance is evident having secured a majority of their last nine titles with commanding victories. titles with commanding victories. Given their impressive track record and deep pool of talent, it seems unlikely that any team will be able to stop their momentum.
Class 2A
East Robertson Indians
It’s East Robertson’s time to raise the gold ball in Class 2A
They have notable players like Cade Brooks and the talented brothers Isaiah and Zach Groves, who will positioning the team for another successful campaign. Coach Chase Brooks is determined to bring East Robertson its first state championship, learning from last year’s championship loss.
Class 1A
McKenzie Rebels
McKenzie’s runner-up finish last season may have stung but it showed they have much potential.
After learning from their defeat, they are determined to win the state title this year. With the experience gained from last year’s challenging games and the lessons learned from their almost-victory, the Rebels are in a strong position to compete for the state title and are prepared to turn last season’s disappointment into success.
Division II-AAA
Baylor Red Raiders
Despite the heartbreak of losing a close contest last year, Baylor’s are in a good position to be the team hoisting up the state championship trophy this season. They will most likely see McCallie again.
Nonetheless, it will be a top game to watch from Chattanooga.
Division II-AA
CPA Lions
Historically noted for their tough early-season schedule, the Lions often face challenges in the beginning as they encounter strong opponents. These early season challenges are deliberate decisions that make them more resilient and problematic when the playoffs roll around.
With a track record of stepping up when it counts the most, CPA is committed to upholding its championship legacy.
Division II-A
Nashville Christian Eagles
The Eagles are emerging as a state championship favorite largely due to the return of standout quarterback and Georgia commitment Jared Curtis.
Entering his junior season, Curtis’s raw talent and skill will cause problems for opposing defenses. His ability to run the offense and be a leader makes Nashville Christian a championship contender.
