615 Preps Week 9 Area Rankings: A new top-ranked team emerges among several swaps
While many teams had the week off in Week 8, some of the ones that did play seemed to change some minds, for better or worse.
The 615 Preps staff has put together a list of the top 10 large, medium, and small class teams in our coverage area. Large Class teams include the 29 Class 6A and Division II-AAA teams in our coverage area. Medium Class teams include 5A, 4A, and Division II-AA, totaling 25 squads. Small Class teams include 3A, 2A, 1A, and Division II-A, which contain 29 teams.
Large Class

Change: None (last week: 1st) | Last week: open date | This week: at Siegel
The Warriors return to action looking to build on their 11-game winning streak against Siegel, a team they haven’t dropped one against since 2014.
2. Brentwood Academy (6-2, 3-0 DII-AAA West Region)
Change: Up 1 spot (last week: 3rd) | Last week: 42-7 win vs. Briarcrest | This week: open date
The Eagles soared into their open date by dismantling previously unbeaten Briarcrest through Larry Sanders II’s five-touchdown eruption.
3. Oakland (6-1, 3-1 Region 3-6A)
Change: Down 1 spot (last week: 2nd) | Last week: open date | This week: vs. LaVergne
It’s been 14 years since Oakland last dropped a game to LaVergne, though they’ve only met four times in that span. Prior to that, you’d have to go back to 2007 for the next most recent Wolverine win in the series.

Change: No change (last week: 4th) | Last week: 35-7 win vs. Father Ryan | This week: open date

The Indians breezed into their off week after pitching their first shutout of the season, though their Oct. 30 date with East Nashville is getting bigger and bigger by the week.

Gordonsville doesn’t have to worry about their playoff seeding – the Tigers became the first team in the state to lock up their region title last week. The best part? They would have home-field advantage through the semifinals so long as they keep winning.
