615 Preps Week 4 Area Rankings: Shakeups galore as Week 3 carnage produces two new No. 1 teams

Week 3’s results caused a full-scale shuffle in our weekly area rankings – 27 of the 30 teams amongst our classes find themselves in a new spot this week. Every team in the Small Class top 10 moved as a result of last week’s finals.
The 615 Preps staff has put together a list of the top 10 large, medium, and small class teams in our coverage area. Large Class teams include the 29 Class 6A and Division II-AAA teams in our coverage area. Medium Class teams include 5A, 4A, and Division II-AA, totaling 25 squads. Small Class teams include 3A, 2A, 1A, and Division II-A, which contain 29 teams.
Large Class
1. Riverdale (2-1, 1-0 Region 3-6A)
Change: Up 2 spots (last week: 3rd) | Last week: 38-14 win at Blackman | This week: vs. LaVergne
The Warriors rolled to a Backyard Brawl victory and find themselves atop the Large Class rankings as a result of all the shuffling. With LaVergne, Stewarts Creek, and Columbia in the next three weeks, they could stay there for a while.
2. Oakland (2-1, 0-1 Region 3-6A)
Change: Down 1 spot (last week: 2nd) | Last week: 22-21 loss vs. Smyrna | This week: at Pearl-Cohn
Friday’s loss to Smyrna marked the first time Oakland lost a region opener under Kevin Creasy. The last time it happened was the year before Creasy took over in 2014, when Blackman clipped them in a nationally-televised game.
3. MBA (3-0)
Change: Up 1 spot (last week: 4th) | Last week: 40-36 win vs. FRA | This week: at Christian Brothers
131 points in their first three games – MBA hasn’t poured on that much production this early since 1999 (139 points in first three games).
4. Brentwood Academy (1-2)
Change: Down 2 spots (last week: 2nd) | Last week: 31-23 loss vs. St. Joseph’s Prep (Pa.) | This week: vs. Lift For Life Academy (Mo.)
It might not be the start record-wise the Eagles envisoned, but their first region game isn’t until next week, either. Two losses to quality teams isn’t a killer.
5. Lipscomb Academy (1-2)
Change: No change (last week: 5th) | Last week: 21-20 loss vs. Knoxville Catholic | This week: vs. MUS
The Mustangs have two losses by a combined four points, but with all the carnage around them in the rankings, they managed to hold their ground with region play starting for them this week.

The Wildcats have outscored their three opponents 152-24 so far. Another test from out-of-state awaits when Milton comes in this week.
2. Page (3-0)
Change: Up 1 spot (last week: 3rd) | Last week: 34-3 vs. Hendersonville | This week: at Brentwood
The Patriots now hold the area’s longest winning streak at 17 games after taking down Hendersonville.
3. FRA (2-1)
Change: Down 1 spot (last week: 2nd) | Last week: 40-36 loss at MBA | This week: at JPII
The Panthers are now in a six-week stretch where they’ll only have one home game, and Justin Geisinger faces his old team this week after FRA comes off a tough loss at MBA.
4. Springfield (3-0)
Change: Up 1 spot (last week: 5th) | Last week: 56-0 win vs. Portland | This week: at Station Camp
Springfield has 126 points in three games, two of them without Kason Woodson at quarterback. That bodes well for them upon his return to the lineup, especially if it happens this week against Station Camp.
5. Nolensville (3-0)
Change: Up 1 spot (last week: 6th) | Last week: 41-0 win vs. Overton | This week: at Blackman
The Knights are off to their first 3-0 start in three years and should get a solid test this week on the road at Blackman.

Eagles survived a tough battle against to climb back to the top spot after just one week out of it.
2. East Robertson (3-0)
Change: Up 2 spots (last week: 4th) | Last week: 41-6 win vs. Jo Byrns | This week: at Portland
The Indians had to be pretty thankful to not have a close game last week after their first two were decided by a total of nine points.
3. East Nashville (2-1)
Change: None (last week: 3rd) | Last week: 52-40 win vs. Hillsboro | This week: vs. Beech
The 92 combined points between the Eagles and Burros marked the most in any East Nashville game in school history (previous high of 86 came against Giles County in 2017 and Westview in 2024).
4. Gordonsville (3-0)
Change: Up 1 spot (last week: 5th) | Last week: 43-7 win vs. Fayetteville | This week: at Liberty Creek
Gordonsville’s defense has allowed just 20 points in three games en route to their 3-0 start.
5. Friendship Christian (2-1)
Change: Down 4 spots (last week: 1st) | Last week: 30-0 loss at Mt. Juliet | This week: vs. DeKalb County
Friendship Christian visited Mt. Juliet for the first time in program history last week, and who could blame them if they wanted it to be a one-time deal? Their 30-point loss was the worst for the Commanders since a 47-0 defeat to DCA in 2021.
