As quickly as it arrived, the boys basketball season in Tennessee has now come to an end.
Like it is every year, the 615 was full of standout players and teams as numerous teams in the area established themselves as state championship contenders. In a loaded field, one ultimately came out on top of their class.
So, how did the final results of the season affect the overall area rankings. We dialed it in and came up with the updated results for our large and small class rankings.
Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 2A, 1A, and Division II-A.
Here’s a look at the final boys basketball rankings for the 2025-26 season.
Large Class
1. Brentwood (30-4): The Bruins drew nationally-ranked Bartlett in the first round of the Class 4A state tournament. Even in a 9-point loss to the Panthers, Davis Cochran was the best player on the court scoring a game-high 28 points and nabbing eight rebounds.
2. Pope John Paul II (25-8): The Knights made school history by becoming the first in program history to make it to a state championship game. They squared off with Briarcrest Christian and despite mounting a late comeback, could not complete the comeback losing by 10 to the Saints.
3. Beech (32-3): Like the Bruins, the Buccaneers also drew a nationally-ranked program to start the Class 4A state tournament in Bearden. Cutter Sisk shined in a narrow 55-52 loss to the Bulldogs scoring a tournament-high 33 points on 13-of-18 shooting.
4. MBA (19-10): The Big Red’s season came to an end with an 11-point loss to JPII in the DII-AA semifinals. However, no team in the area had a better win than MBA this season as the Big Red traveled to nationally-ranked Knox Webb and beat the Spartans in the DII-AA quarterfinals.
5. Blackman (27-5): The Blaze drew Whitehaven and kept it close to the Tigers in the first round of their Class 4A tournament first round game. However, they couldn’t get the offense going and the Tigers couldn’t miss as Whitehaven moved on with a 71-41 win.
Small Class
1. PCA (29-6): At the end of the day, the Lions were the only team in the 615 to bring home a gold ball. Led by Chris Washington Jr. and Nick Anderson, the Lions held on to beat St. George’s by four and then BGA by 12 to repeat as the DII-A champions.
2. BGA (31-8): After surviving a test against Boyd-Buchanan in the DII-A semifinals, the Wildcats got another shot at PCA for the DII-A title for a second year in a row. While they kept it close all evening, the Wildcats came up short against the Lions for a second season in a row.
3. Eagleville (32-1): The Eagles drew Pickett County in the first round of the Class 1A state tournament and once again beat the Bobcats to keep the unbeaten season alive. They weren’t as lucky in the next round against Humboldt as the Vikings nailed a three at the buzzer to end the Eagles’ season with a 65-62 loss.
4. Smith County (24-12): The Owls made their first state tournament appearance since 1991 and weren’t satisfied with just making it. Sophomore Cooper Jones led them to a one-point win over Lewis County and then scored 21 points in the semifinals against Westview.
5. East Nashville (23-5): The Eagles had the distinction of playing the very first game of the state tournament on Wednesday. They drew Loretto and after a back-and-forth affair, lost to the Mustangs 44-38/.
