Final Girls Basketball Rankings: PCA wins lone gold ball for the 615

As quickly as it arrived, the girls basketball season in Tennessee has now come to an end.

Like it is every year, the 615 was full of standout players and teams as numerous teams in the area established themselves as state championship contenders. In a loaded field, one ultimately came out on top of their class.

So, how did the final results of the season affect the overall area rankings. We dialed it in and came up with the updated results for our large and small class rankings.

Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 2A, 1A, and Division II-A.

Here’s a look at the final girls basketball rankings for the 2025-26 season.

Large Class

1. CPA (26-3): The Lady Lions led by as many as 16 in their DII-AA semifinal matchup with Knox Webb but couldn’t maintain that lead falling to the eventual state champion 59-54.

2. Lipscomb Academy (26-7): After beating Hutchison by 16 in the semifinals, the Lady Mustangs took control against Knox Webb as they took a 10-point lead into the fourth. However, their dream end was not to be as the Lady Spartans scored a late basket for the 48-47 championship win.

3. Blackman (28-4): The Lady Blaze dominated Collierville 54-30 to open the 4A state tournament. However, they couldn’t muster that same offense in a 34-26 semifinal loss to the eventual state champion, Sevier County.

4. Page (25-7): Three different Lady Patriots finished in double digits in Page’s quarterfinal matchup with Cookeville but that would not be enough as the Lady Cavs held on for the 55-47 win.

5. Liberty Creek (30-5): In their first state tournament appearance, the Lady Wolves drew Cocke County. After a strong first half, Cocke County pulled away knocking Liberty Creek out of the tournament with a 59-44 final.

Small Class

1. PCA (28-5): Kayte Madison Bjornstad capped her career with a gold ball and Eva Birkofer cemented herself as the Lady Lions’ next superstar following wins over TKA (68-43) and USJ (60-49) for the DII-A title.

2. MTCS (26-6): After winning the district tournament title and coming up short against PCA in the region championship, the Lady Cougars drew a road game at CAK in the first round of the DII-A tournament. They came up short in that one losing a tough road trip 64-62.

3. Ezell-Harding (32-3): After setting a program record for wins, the Lady Eagles traveled to CAK for for the DII-A quarterfinals. In a back-and-forth affair, Ezell’s season came to an end with a 51-42 loss.

4. Smith County (22-13): The Lady Owls drew Huntingdon in the first round of the Class 2A state tournament. They pushed the future champions but ultimately saw their season come to an end with a 60-57 loss.

5. Gordonsville (29-5): For the first time since 1999, the Lady Tigers made a state tournament appearance. They drew Wayne County in the opening round ultimately losing to the Lady Wildcats 37-32.
