Well, the final week of the high football season is here.
Semifinal action on Friday meant that a trip to Chattanooga was in store for a good amount of our area teams.
Nearly all who were playing on Friday took care of business.
The 615 Preps staff has put together a list of the top five large, medium, and small class teams in our coverage area following last week’s action. This rankings are based off of results, head-to-head matchups and current form for teams.
Large Class teams include 6A and Division II-AAA. Medium Class teams include 5A, 4A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 3A, 2A, 1A, and Division II-A, and each grouping has roughly 30 teams in it.
Large Class
1. Brentwood Academy (11-0): The Eagles had the week off ahead of the Division II-AAA championship. Up next: vs. Baylor (11-0)
2. Oakland (14-0): Craig Tutt would not be denied a return trip back to the Class 6A title game. He accounted for over 230 total yards and scored four touchdowns as the Patriots crushed Blackman 42-14. Up next: vs. Ravenwood (14-0)
3. Ravenwood (14-0): In a battle of unbeaten’s a second half fumble return proved to be the difference as the Raptors beat Southwind 28-25 for their first state finals appearance since 2019. Up next: vs. Oakland (14-0)
4. Blackman (12-1): Down 28 early, the Blaze made it a two-possession game late but couldn’t pull any closer in their semifinal loss to Oakland.
5. Green Hill (10-3): The Hawks season came to an end in the quarterfinals with a 21-17 loss to Oakland.

Medium Class
1. Page (13-0): Only leading by one late in the third quarter, the Patriots closed out the final 14 minutes by outscoring Centennial 28-7 to secure the 43-21 win and their fifth straight trip to Chattanooga. Up next: vs. Sevier County (13-1)
2. FRA (11-1): The Panthers had the week off ahead of the Division II-AA championship. Up next: vs. BGA (12-1)
3. BGA (12-1): The Wildcats had the week off ahead of the Division II-AA championship. Up next: vs. FRA (11-1)
4. Pearl-Cohn (10-4): Down 21-0 midway through the second quarter, a kick return by Omarion Starnes kicked off a 42-0 run for the Firebirds as they rallied to beat South Gibson 42-28. Up next: vs. Alcoa (13-1)
5. Beech (10-2): The Buccaneers season came to an end in the quarterfinals with a 31-21 loss to Page.

2. East Robertson (12-1): The Indians season came to an end in the quarterfinals with a 42-20 loss to Huntingdon.
3. Gordonsville (12-1): The Tigers season came to an end in the quarterfinals with a 42-14 loss to Marion County.
4. Providence Christian (9-3): The Lions season came to an end in the semifinals with a 31-12 loss to USJ.
5. East Nashville (6-6): The Eagles season came to an end in the quarterfinals with a 38-21 loss to Milan.
