615 Preps Week 15 Area Rankings: Four area teams advance to Division-II finals

0 0

With two weeks to go in the 2025 high school football season, we know of at least four teams that will get the chance to play for a state title in Chattanooga.

Division II semifinals were played Friday night and teams from the 615 faired well earning nearly every spot in the DII championships.

As for classes 1-6A, it was a bit of a mixed bag of results leading to quite a few changes in this week’s area rankings.

The 615 Preps staff has put together a list of the top five large, medium, and small class teams in our coverage area following last week’s action. This rankings are based off of results, head-to-head matchups and current form for teams.

Large Class teams include 6A and Division II-AAA. Medium Class teams include 5A, 4A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 3A, 2A, 1A, and Division II-A, and each grouping has roughly 30 teams in it.

Large Class

1. Brentwood Academy (11-0): Larry Sanders would not be denied of his shot at playing for a state title racking up 207 yards and four touchdowns as the Eagles cruised past CPA 38-7. Up next: vs. Baylor (11-0)

2. Oakland (13-0): Down by 10 in the fourth quarter, the Patriots rallied scoring 14 points in the final 10 minutes to beat Green Hill 21-17. Up next: vs. Blackman (12-1)

3. Ravenwood (13-0): In a defensive slugfest, Maverick Chance and Femi Bablola each threw a touchdown pass as the Raptors held on to beat Whitehaven 20-12 on the road. Up next: vs. Southwind (13-0)

4. Blackman (12-1): One of the most dominant defensive performances of the week, the Blaze showed the rest of the state that they’re legit shutting down Maryville in an impressive 31-7 win. Up next: at Oakland (13-0)

5. Green Hill (10-3): Kannon Burroughs capped off his high school career passing for 165 yards and a touchdown against an Oakland defense not many teams have found much success against.

6. CPA (4-9)

7. Riverdale (8-4)

8. Ensworth (7-4)

9. Antioch (10-2)

10. MBA (6-5)

Medium Class

1. Page (12-0): Down 14 early, Page outscored Beech 31-7 over the final three frames to beat the Buccaneers 31-21. Air Force commitment Knight WIlson only caught three passes but racked up 137 yards and a touchdown on those receptions. Up next: vs. Centennial (7-5)

2. FRA (11-1): Mike Hassell ran for 147 yards and two touchdowns while Jack Nimitz was nearly perfect throwing the ball as the Panthers beat Lausanne 49-21 for their first championship appearance since 1991. Up next: vs. BGA (12-1)

3. BGA (12-1): The Wildcats showed Boyd Buchanan just how tough and physical there were limiting the Buccaneers to less than 100 total yards of offense in a 49-3 win earning a return trip to Finley Stadium. Up next: vs. FRA (11-1)

4. Pearl-Cohn (9-4): There were no dramatics needed this time around for the Firebirds in their third trip to Marshall County in the last year. LJ Funk threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns in a dominant 33-7 victory. Up next: vs. South Gibson (10-3)

5. Beech (10-2): Kaden Powell capped off his career with a multi-touchdown performance on the road in one of the harder environments to play in.

9. GCA (8-4)

Small Class

1. Nashville Christian (12-0): Like they have been for every other team they’ve played this season, the duo of Jared Curtis and T.J. Ward proved too much for TCA to handle as the Eagles rolled to a 41-7 win and back in to the DII-A championship game. Up next: vs. USJ (11-1)

2. East Robertson (12-1): Kason Young threw for 357 yards and a pair of touchdowns but the Indians defense couldn’t get the stops they needed as they would lose to Huntingdon 42-20.

3. Gordonsville (12-1): After going down a pair of touchdowns in the first half, the Tigers scored back-to-back to things up. Marion County ultimately would pull away with 28 straight points to secure the 42-14 win.

4. Providence Christian (9-3): USJ scored on a pair of long touchdown runs early and never looked back as the Bruins handed the Lions a 31-12 loss.

5. East Nashville (6-6): Only trailing by three entering the final quarter, Milan’s ground game proved to be too much for the Eagles to handle as they scored twice to secure the 38-21 win.
