Week 1 of the high school football season has come and gone and we had some massive matchups to kick off the season.
The game between Oakland and CPA highlighted the areas best with the Patriots emerging with a 28-14 victory. However, that wasn’t the only game that resulted in a bit of a change when it comes to our Week 2 area rankings.
The 615 Preps staff put together a list of the top five large, medium, and small class teams in our coverage area following last week’s action. This rankings are based off of results, head-to-head matchups and current form for teams.
Large Class teams include 6A and Division II-AAA. Medium Class teams include 5A, 4A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 3A, 2A, 1A, and Division II-A, and each grouping has roughly 30 teams in it.
Large Class
1. Oakland (1-0):Â In the week’s most-anticipated game, the stars shined on the biggest stage for the Patriots. Craig Tutt scored twice and Columbia transfer Justis Haggard added another on the ground en route to the 28-14 win over the Lions.
2. Ravenwood (1-0):Â The Raptors trailed 17-0 at the half before finding life in the second half to beat Madison Ridgeland 28-24 on the road. Boston College commitment Femi Babalola had himself a night accounting for 412 total yards and ran in two touchdowns.
3. Ensworth (1-0):Â In one of the more impressive outings of Week 1, Ensworth showed no mercy in dispatching visiting Whitehaven 31-6. Ensworth did not allow any points until the final play of the night while EJ Gibson paced their offense with a pair of rushing touchdowns.
