The girls basketball season has officially come to an end.
While no gold balls came back to the 615, plenty of teams had standouts seasons that they will never forget. We also saw fluctuating changes in our rankings this season.
Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA.
Here’s a look at the top 20 teams in our area entering the fifth week of the season.
Large Class
1. Lipscomb Academy (27-4): The Lady Mustangs were one game short of a championship appearance. Their season came to an end in a 52-47 loss to Knoxville Webb.
2. CPA (23-7): The dream season for the Lady Lions ended in the Division II-AA championship game in a 61-47 loss to Knox Webb.
3. Clarksville (26-2): A one-point loss to Whitehaven ended the Lady Wildcats’ season in their substate matchup.
4. Lebanon (24-8): The Devilettes made it back to substate but drew the short end of the stick traveling to eventual three-time defending champion Bradley Central.
5. Portland (24-12): The lone large class area team to make it to Murfreesboro, the Lady Panthers played Heritage in the quarterfinals. While they kept it close early on, Heritage would go on to win the game 60-36.

Small Class
1. East Nashville (25-2): The Lady Eagles made it back to the state tournament drawing Westview in the first round. Competitive throughout the first half, the Lady Charges closed the half on a 10-0 run and were able to put the game away by a score of 48-30.
2. Providence Christian (23-7): The Lady Cougars lost to 57-36 in the Division II-A semifinals.
3. Cheatham County (28-6): Taking on Summertown at home in substate, the Lady Cubs came up just two points short on making it back to Murfreesboro losing to the Lady Eagles 34-32.
4. Goodpasture (22-9): The Lady Cougars’ season came to an end with a 50-46 loss to USJ in the DII-A quarterfinals.
5. Smith County (23-9): The Lady Owls season came to an end in the Region 3-2A semifinals with a 40-34 loss to Jackson County.
