The Division II semifinals are set and public schools are starting to inch closer and closer to Murfreesboro.
Three teams in our coverage area will get the chance to play for a state title in Cookeville while most of our other teams continued on.
However, some teams saw their seasons come to an end and the prompted some changes in this week’s area rankings.
Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA.
Here’s a look at the top 20 teams in our area entering the fifth week of the season.
Large Class
1. Lipscomb Academy (27-3): The Lady Mustangs clinched a spot in the DII-AA final four but it didn’t come easy. In a back-and-forth game, they held on for the 65-60 win.
2. Clarksville (24-1): It was a three-win week for the Lady Wildcats. In district tournament play they beat Kirkwood 41-23 and Rossview 48-44 before beating Kenwood 62-48 in the first round of the Region 7-4A tournament.
3. Blackman (23-3): The Lady Blaze got some revenge in the District 8-4A title game beating Rockvale 45-41. Things were easier in the first round of the Region 4-4A tournament as they beat Wilson Central 62-33.
4. Lebanon (23-6): Late free throws propelled the Devilettes past Cookeville 45-44 for the District 7-4A title. A few days later they rolled past Riverdale 77-29 in the first round of the Region 4-4A tournament.
5. Brentwood (25-4): Make it 10 wins in a row for the Lady Bruins. They beat Page 47-35 for the District 10-4A championship and followed it up with a 65-48 win over Warren County.

Small Class
1. East Nashville (22-1): The Lady Eagles did not play last week.
2. Providence Christian (23-6): Down late, the Lady Lions rallied late to beat CAK 44-36. Kayte Madison Bjornstad recorded a double-double with 24 points and 14 rebounds.
3. Cheatham County (26-4): After beating East Hickman by nine for the District 11-2A championship, the Lady Cubs’ first region tournament game was a defensive slugfest. They came out on top beating Camden 30-27.
4. Goodpasture (22-9): In a rematch of last year’s DII-A championship game, the Lady Cougars squared off against USJ. They kept it close throughout before falling on the road 50-46.
5. Smith County (23-8): York continues to be a pain in the Lady Owls’ side as they lost to the Dragonettes 54-19 in the District 5-2A title game. They bounced back a few days later beating White House Heritage 68-33.
