1 0

Postseason play has arrived and a few of our area’s top programs have already seen their seasons come to an end. Others have already claimed a title or two.

With the upsets and results so far that have shaped the postseason, there have been plenty of changes in this week’s area rankings.

Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA.

Here’s a look at the top 20 teams in our area entering the fifth week of the season.

Large Class

1. Hillsboro (27-5): The Burros just keep winning and doing so in impressive fashion. After beating Antioch again by 11, they kicked off the district tournament with a 63-26 win over Overton.

2. Hume-Fogg (23-3): District play was no trouble for the Blue Knights during the regular season and that continued into the district tournament. They advanced to the championship game by beating Maplewood 63-46

3. Father Ryan (21-8): The Irish are peaking at the right time. After beating Lipscomb Academy by 19, they held off a pair of second rallies to beat MBA and Pope John Paul II 53-49.

4. Pope John Paul II (27-4): It looked like the Knights would be the kings of comebacks last week. They rallied in their region semifinal matchup to beat Ensworth 72-62 in overtime. That momentum could not be carried into the championship game against Father Ryan as the comeback fell short by four.

5. Franklin (22-5): Tournament play provided two different wins for the Admirals. After opening the district tournament with a 67-36 win over Ravenwood, Franklin got a test from Centennial holding on for the 48-43 win.
