Week 11 Boys Basketball Rankings: Goodpasture, Hillsboro reclaim top spots

Week 10 of the high school boys basketball season had some eye-opening results. That means we had quite a few changes in this week’s area rankings.

Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA.

Here’s a look at the top 20 teams in our area entering the fifth week of the season.

Large Class

1. Hillsboro (19-5): It was a mixed week for the Burros. They crushed Cane Ridge 76-52 but lost to Whitehaven 58-47 at McCallie.

2. MBA (17-3): The Big Red had as impressive of a week as any team in the state. They won on the road in each of their games beating JPII 69-61, Father Ryan 57-52 and Chattanooga Prep 57-45.

3. Pope John Paul II (21-3): A rough second half doomed the Knights in their loss to MBA. They were able to rebound a few days later as Trey Pearson scored 22 points to beat Ensworth 70-62.

4. Hume-Fogg (16-3): The Blue Knights didn’t face much of a challenge in either of their games last week. They kicked off the week beating VCA 81-29 and closed it with an 80-45 win over Maplewood.

5. Franklin (15-4): A pair of double-digit wins has the Admirals back on top of District 10-4A. They beat Summit 82-69 and Ravenwood 70-51.

Who just missed out: Beech (15-6), Lipscomb Academy (14-6)

Small Class

1. Goodpasture (20-1): The Cougars just keep on rolling. They went 3-0 last week beating DCA 78-38, Davidson Academy 87-39 and Nashville Christian 83-46.

2. Providence Christian (17-2): BGA got the best of the Lions the second go-around handing PCA a 76-71. They would rebounded a few days later beating FRA 67-52.

3. White House Heritage (17-3): Avery Coles dominated for the Patriots in both of their wins. He scored 27 in a 59-43 win over Greenbrier and 19 in a 52-26 win over Westmoreland.

4. Eagleville (17-2): The Eagles only had one game last week but were dominant in that showing. Four players finished in double-figures as they crushed Fayetteville 84-26.

5. Friendship Christian (15-5): It was a good week for the Commanders who picked up a pair of double-digit region wins. They first beat Nashville Christian 74-34 before beating Clarksville Academy 70-55.
