Week 8 Girls Basketball Rankings: Nolensville, Page keep racking up wins

Holiday Tournaments came to an end last week and district play has arrived. Now is when the state’s best really start to separate themselves.

Results last week between the end of those tournaments and the start of district play resulted in a few changes in this week’s large and small class rankings.

Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA.

Here’s a look at the top 20 teams in our area entering the fifth week of the season.

Large Class

1. Nolensville (13-1): The Lady Knights kicked off the week winning the Hilton Sandestin Beach Blowout with a 58-52 win over Knox Central. They closed out the week with a 67-23 blowout win over Siegel.

2. Page (13-3): After closing out the Music City Hoopfest with a 52-41 win over Oakland, the Lady Patriots beat Marshall County (Ky.) 67-53 in the Border Wars at Bethel University,

3. Clarksville (10-0): The Lady Wildcats did not play last week.

4. Blackman (12-2): Green Hill didn’t pose too much of a threat for the Lady Blaze. They rolled in their only game of the week to a 51-33 win.

5. CPA (10-2): It was a big week for the Lady Lions. They kicked the week off with a 33-21 win over Hendersonville in the championship of the New Year’s Classic at Liberty Creek before beating Lipscomb Academy 51-38 later in the week.

7. Harpeth Hall (9-4)

8. Father Ryan (12-1)

9. Lebanon (8-5)

10. Brentwood (8-3)

Who just missed out: Ensworth (7-5), Rossview (10-4)

Small Class

1. East Nashville (12-0): The Lady Eagles have yet to be tested this season. Last week they beat Mercy 48-33 and followed that up a day later with a 50-33 win over Oakland.

2. Providence Christian (10-3): The Lady Lions enter district play as one of the hottest teams in the area regardless of class.

3. Ezell-Harding (13-2): They may have closed the Tampa Bay Invitational with a loss to Milford (Ohio), but the Lady Eagles returned home and promptly got back in the win column. They beat Liberty Creek 50-40.

4. Goodpasture (7-4): In a battle of two of the area’s top Division II-A programs, the Lady Cougars showed that they’re still on top. They beat Nashville Christian 51-37.

5. Nashville Christian (11-2): The Lady Eagles only had one game last week and suffered just their second loss of the season at Goodpasture.
