Week 6 Girls Basketball Rankings: Lipscomb Academy rolls to 10th straight win

Holiday tournaments have arrived which means we’re getting some matchups between some of the area and state’s best programs.

In the days leading up to Christmas, we’ve seen some movement in this week’s area large and small class rankings.

Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA.

Here’s a look at the top 20 teams in our area entering the fifth week of the season.

Large Class

1 . Lipscomb Academy (10-0): Results speak for themself and the Lady Mustangs have done nothing but dominate this season. Last week they crushed Kirkwood 60-31 and were even better in an 82-33 win over East Hickman.

2. Nolensville (9-1): Franklin gave the Lady Knights a test but Nolensville was able to come out on top 50-45. They followed that up a few days later beating Columbia Academy 68-33.

3. Page (10-2): Dominant is the best way to describe the Lady Patriots’ play last week. They beat up on Centennial 65-9 before beating Lovett (Ga.) 72-32 and Hilton Head (S.C.) 69-12.

4. Clarksville (10-0): The Lady Wildcats have yet to be tested this season. In wins over Northwest, Christian Community and Jo Byrns, they outscored those teams 122-60.

5. Father Ryan (8-0): The Lady Irish didn’t play last week.

7. Blackman (7-2)

8. Lebanon (6-4)

9. Brentwood (6-2)

10. Rossview (7-2)

Who just missed out: CPA (5-2), Ensworth (4-3), Stewarts Creek (7-5)

Small Class

1. East Nashville (10-0): In their only game last week, the Lady Eagles crushed McGavock 68-39.

2. Ezell-Harding (9-1): The Lady Eagles suffered their first loss of the season against Rockvale losing that game 47-40. They rebounded a day later though beating DCA 45-33.

3. Nashville Christian (9-1): After a pair of narrow wins over Baylor (41-34) and Kentucky’s Pineville High (44-40), the Lady Eagles cruised in their final game of the week beating Jasper (Ala.) 61-26.

4. Goodpasture (5-3): Early seasons struggles behind them, the Lady Cougars have won four straight games. Last week they beat Clarksville Academy 66-47 and Silverdale Academy 65-54.

5. Providence Christian (6-3): In their only game of th week, the Lady Cougars fell to Stewarts Creek 47-44.
