As hard as it is to believe, the 2024 high school football season has officially come to an end.
Action over the weekend in Chattanooga saw nine state champions crowned. Four of which hail from the 615.
Between those state champions and two who came up just short of gold, the final area rankings for the year have been compiled.
The 615 Preps staff has put together a list of the top five large, medium, and small class teams in our coverage area following last week’s action. This rankings are based off of results, head-to-head matchups and current form for teams.
Large Class
1. Oakland (14-1): Daune Morris ran for three touchdowns, TT Hill ran for two and Craig Tutt added another as the Patriots demolished Houston 42-20 in a revenge game for the Class 6A title.
3. Ensworth (11-1): The Tigers’ season came to an end on November 22 in a 31-7 loss to McCallie.
4. Riverdale (10-3): The Warriors’ season came to an end on November 22 in a 49-46 loss to Oakland..
5. Stewarts Creek (11-2): The Red Hawks’ season came to an end on November 22 in a 38-14 loss to Ravenwood.
6. Brentwood Academy (8-4)
8. Green Hill (10-1)
Medium Class
1. CPA (14-0): BGA made it interesting late but the Lions were never in trouble as they capped off their DII-AA run and repeated as champs with a 38-26 win. Rawls Patterson could not be stopped rushing for 336 yards and four touchdowns.
2. Macon County (13-2):Go ahead and start building the Kyle Shoulders and Border Brothers statues now Lafayette. Zach Borders ran wild for over 240 yards and four touchdowns as the Tigers dominated Melrose 45-14 for their first ever state championship.
3. Page (14-1): The dream season for the Patriots came up seven points short. Four turnovers doomed them a 27-20 loss to Sevier County that meant silver for a fourth straight season.
4. BGA (11-2): Back-to-back onside kick recoveries made things interesting late but it wasn’t enough to push the Wildcats past CPA. Arnett Hayes had the game of his life setting the championship game record in receiving yards with 260 on 15 catches.
5. Springfield (8-6): The Yellow Jackets’ season came to an end in the semifinals with a 31-7 loss to Page.

Small Class
1. Nashville Christian (11-1): Jared Curtis accounted for six total touchdowns and TJ Ward ran for over 200 yards to lead the Eagles past Columbia Academy 49-21 and to their first state title since 2015.
2. East Nashville (10-3): The Eagles season came to an end with a 50-36 semifinal loss to Westview.
3. Westmoreland (10-3): The Eagles’ season came to an end on November 22 in a 14-7 loss to Marion County.
4. White House Heritage (9-4): The Patriots” season came to an end on November 22 in a 42-7 loss to East Nashville.
5. DCA (10-3): The Wildcats’ season came to an end on November 22 in a 47-13 loss to Columbia Academy.
