Week 2 Girls Basketball Rankings: Lipscomb Academy opens the season with a bang

0 0

The first week of the high school basketball season has come and gone. We got our first look at our area girls teams and for some, they hit the ground running.

Others have seen their struggles out of the gate.

While it’s way too early to really justifiy who is and aren’t state contenders, results from last week have helped shape this week’s large and small class rankings.

Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA.

Here’s a look at those 20 teams.

Large Class

1 . Lipscomb Academy (2-0): The Lady Mustangs opened the year showing that they’re a team that needs to be acknowledged in the DII-AA title race. They shot lights-out from three in a 67-54 win at Goodpasture before crushing Hendersonville 66-23 a few days later.

2. Page (2-1): The Lady Patriots faced two very different ends of the spectrum to open the year. They had blowout wins over Brentwood Academy (72-38) and Eagleville (67-34) but also suffered a 52-31 loss to Moore County.

3. Nolensville (1-1): Fairview posed no threat to the Lady Knights in their season-opener as Nolensville rolled past 66-25. They couldn’t keep that momentum going against Coffee County losing 40-31.

4. Brentwood (1-0): The Lady Bruins only played one game last week beating Mt. Juliet 59-45. Ella Ryan led the way in that game with 26 points.

5. CPA (1-0) : It was a successful opening week for the Lady Lions who beat PCA on the road 41-30.
