Yesterday we highlighted the top large and small class players in our coverage area heading into the 2024-25 season. Now it’s time to give the girls their chance to shine.
Historically the Nashville area is always loaded with great girls basketball talent and this year is no different.
We’ve highlighted the girls from our large class schools. Here’s a look at the 12 from our small class schools.
These players come from schools in Class 2A, 1A and Division II-A.
*Notes: Stats for these players were obtained via an email sent out to coaches ahead of the season.
First Team
Guard: Anna Clay Shirley, MTCS, Jr.
Shirley was dominant for the Lady Cougars during her junior year averaging a team-high 18.3 points per game while shooting 36% from beyond-the-arc. She also averaged 4.4 rebounds and 2.1 assist.
Guard: -LaZaviona Hawkins, Goodpasture, Sr.
Hawkins led a young but very balanced Lady Cougars to the Division II-A championship game last season. She scored a team-high 12.7 points per game to go with 3.8 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.9 steals.

Guard: Allye Pennington, East Robertson, So.
Pennington has the potential to compete for Miss Basketball the next three seasons. She averaged an absurd 24 points per game as a freshman to go with three steals, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
Forward: Aniston Allgood, Nashville Christian, So.
Allgood broke onto the scene as a freshman for the Lady Eagles and immediately made an impact. She averaged 17.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
Forward: Kayte Madison Bjornstad, PCA, Jr.
Bjornstad came onto the scene and became a presence in the post for the Lady Lions averaging a double-double at at 14 points and 10 rebounds per game.

Sixth Player: Ella Johnson, FRA, Fr.
The Lady Panthers had a pair of talented eighth graders last season in Johnson and Ava Zenner. Johnson led the team in scoring at 14 points per game on 67% shooting from the floor.
Second Team
Guard: Maydson Elliott, East Nashville, Sr.
Guard: Abbilyn Teter, Cannon County, Sr.
Guard: Madison Graham, MTCS, So.
Forward: DJ Haws, BGA, Sr.
Forward: Chloe Collins, Smith County, Sr.
Sixth Player: Brooklyn Jones, Goodpasture, So.
