615 Preps Week 12 Area Rankings: Green Hill finishes regular season unbeaten

The regular season has officially come to an end. Week 12 means that postseason play has officially begun.

Last week saw region titles claimed, key rivalry matchups and seasons come to an end. That led to a few changes in this week’s area rankings.

The 615 Preps staff has put together a list of the top five large, medium, and small class teams in our coverage area following last week’s action.

Large Class teams include 6A and Division II-AAA. Medium Class teams include 5A, 4A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 3A, 2A, 1A, and Division II-A, and each grouping has roughly 30 teams in it.

WEEK 11 GALLERY: Beech outlasts Springfield 21-16

Large Class

1. Ravenwood (10-0): Last week against Oakand it was the Raptors’ offense showing out. This week it was the defense as they came away with key stops late to outlast Brentwood 21-3. Up next: Cane Ridge (2-8)

2. Ensworth (10-0): With a 42-7 win over Christian Brothers, the Tigers completed their first unbeaten regular season since 2012. They haven’t allowed more than seven points in a game since Week 2. Up next: Off

3. Oakland (9-1): Riverdale gave the Patriots all they could handle for three quarters but a pair of long touchdown runs in the fourth quarter propelled Oakland to the 36-21 win in the Battle of the ‘Boro. Up next: vs. Lebanon (4-6)

4. Green Hill (10-0): History was made on the Hill Thursday night in the Hawks’ 12-10 win over Mt. Juliet. It marked Green Hill’s first ever unbeaten regular season and the first time a home team won in the Mayor’s Cup. Up next: vs. Blackman (5-5)

5. Stewarts Creek (9-1): The Red Hawks enter the postseason on an eight-game winning streak. Beating McGavock 35-14, they’ve scored 30 or more points in seven of their 10 games. Up next: vs. Independence (3-7)

Medium Class

1. Page (10-0): Page jumped out on Nolensville early and never let up en route to a 42-0 region-clinching win. The Patriots outscored their opponents 397-13 during the regular season. Up next: vs. vs. Columbia (6-4)

2. CPA (10-0): Balanced would be the best way to describe the Lions’ Friday night against Davidson Academy. They cruised past the Bears 41-10 as several players found the end zone. Up next: vs. CAK (3-7)

3. Beech (9-1): A Chelton Swafford kickoff returned for six was the difference for the Bucs in their 21-16 win over Springfield. The Yellow Jackets had a shot at the end but couldn’t convert . Up next: vs. Brighton (4-5)

4. FRA (9-1): Pope John Paul II was the recipient of a get-back game for the Panthers. They rebounded from last week’s loss to CPA by crushing the Knights 56-6. Up next: vs. Chattanooga Christian (5-5)

5. BGA (8-2): Kaedyn Marable had a near-perfect evening in the Wildcats’ 49-7 win over Goodpasture. He was 9-of-10 passing for 130 yards with three touchdowns to go along with a rushing touchdown. Up next: vs. Knox Webb (5-4)

Small Class

1. Nashville Christian (9-1): The Eagle’s secured the top spot in DII-A’s Middle Region with a dominant 36-0 win over DCA. Jared Curtis threw for 147 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Up next: Off

2. Westmoreland (8-2): In a 42-0 win over Trousdale County, Cooper White had two touchdowns on two carries, a receiving touchdown and a school record 78-yard punt return for a touchdown. Up next: vs. Cannon County (6-4)

3. East Robertson (9-1): No dramatics this week for the Indians. They closed out the regular season with a dominant 37-0 road win over Jackson County. Up next: vs. Fayetteville (3-7)

4. East Nashville (7-2): The Eagles once again staked their spot atop Region 5-3A. This time they did it in a rivalry win thumping Stratford 38-0. Up next: vs. Cheatham County (1-9)

5. White House Heritage (7-3): Rallying to beat Fairview 21-14, the Patriots claimed their first region title since 2014. Cale Hunt scored the go-ahead game-winner from a few yards out with 31 seconds remaining in the game. Up next: vs. Maplewood (3-5)
