Week 9 saw most of the area’s top teams take care of business. Week 10 and Week 11 promise to have chaos.
Fall break is officially over the teams in our coverage area meaning the best regular season matchups of the season have arrived. That promises for some changes in our weekly rankings.
Our staff has put together a list of the top five large, medium, and small class teams in our coverage area following last week’s action.
Large Class teams include 6A and Division II-AAA. Medium Class teams include 5A, 4A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 3A, 2A, 1A, and Division II-A, and each grouping has roughly 30 teams in it.
Large Class
1. Ravenwood (8-0): Maverick Chance had a pair of rushing touchdowns and Raptors pulled away to beat Franklin 28-7. Up next: at Oakland
2. Oakland (8-0): Several Patriots found the end zone Friday night as Oakland rolled into Week 10 with a 42-10 win over Coffee County. Up next: vs. Ravenwood
3. Ensworth (8-0): The Tigers were off last week. Up next: vs. Briarcrest Christian (4-4)
4. Mt. Juliet (8-0): In another classic with Lebanon, the Golden Bears rallied late to beat the Blue Devils 24-21. Tyler Travers scored the game-winner from a yard out with 2:28 remaining. Up next: vs. Franklin (4-4)
5. Green Hill (8-0): There was no upset with LaVergne this time around. The Hawks jumped out to a lead early and rolled to a 43-0 victory. Up next: vs. Cookeville (7-1)

Medium Class
1. Page (8-0): Is another shutout streak about to star? Louisville commitment Eric Hazzard recorded two sacks as the Patriots cruised past Hillsboro 38-0. Up next: at Centennial (5-3)
2. CPA (8-0): The Lions were off last week. Up next: at FRA
3. Beech (7-1): The Buccaneers got a break from region play and were once again dominant going on the road and beating Siegel 35-20. Up next: vs. Hunters Lane (2-6)
4. FRA (8-0): The Panthers were off last week. Up next: vs. CPA
5. Pearl-Cohn (6-2): Javion Kinnard had a huge night that included a pair of kickoffs returned for touchdowns in the Firebirds’ 62-0 win over Greenbrier. Up next: at White House (4-4)

Small Class
1. Nashville Christian (7-1): Win No. 5 in a row came easy for the Eagles as they crushed Fayetteville 46-0. Jared Curtis was 11-of-16 passing for 233 yards and four touchdowns in the win. Up next: vs. Clarksville Academy (1-6)
2. Westmoreland (7-1): Another night, another blowout win for the Eagles. Cooper White ran for 140 yards and four touchdowns in a 35-6 win over Smith County. Up next: at Portland (4-4)
3. East Robertson (7-1): The Indians were off last week. Up next: at White House Heritage (6-2)
4. DCA (7-1): The Wildcats were off last week. Up next: at GCA (3-4)
5. Gordonsville (6-2): The Tigers were off last week. Up next: at Bledsoe County (7-1)
