615 Preps Week 9 Area Rankings: CPA wins its 20th game in a row

Fall break started last week for most schools meaning Week 8 was a light schedule. Week 9 also will be fairly light.
Even with so many teams off, there were some huge matchups that still went down last week. One of those matches caused a bit of a shakeup in this week’s medium class rankings.
The 615 Preps staff has put together a list of the top five large, medium, and small class teams in our coverage area following last week’s action.
Large Class teams include 6A and Division II-AAA. Medium Class teams include 5A, 4A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 3A, 2A, 1A, and Division II-A, and each grouping has roughly 30 teams in it.
Large Class
1. Ravenwood (7-0): The Raptors were off last week. Up next: vs. Franklin (4-3)
2. Oakland (7-0): The Patriots were off last week Up next: at Coffee County (3-4)
3. Ensworth (8-0): Down four at the half, junior standout Justin Hopkins took over in the second half. He had two receiving touchdowns and an interception as the Tigers scored 21 straight to beat Father Ryan 24-7. Up next: Bye Week
4. Mt. Juliet (7-0): The Golden Bears were off last week. Up next: at Lebanon (3-4)
5. Green Hill (7-0): The Hawks were off last week. Up next: at La Vergne (0-7)
Dropped out: None. Who just missed out: Brentwood (6-1), Clarksville (8-0), Riverdale (6-1), Stewarts Creek (6-1)
Medium Class
1. Page (7-0): The Patriots were off last week. Up next: vs. Hillsboro (4-3)
2. CPA (8-0): Hutson Chance threw for three touchdowns and ran in another as CPA beat Antioch 34-6 for its 20th win in row. Up next: Bye Week
3. Beech (6-1): Payback secured. The Bucs avenged last season’s overtime loss to Henry County jumping on the Patriots early and rolling to the 42-23 win. Up next: at Siegel (1-6)
4. FRA (8-0): Whenever Mike Hassell touched the ball against BGA, good things happened. FRA’s junior back had over 200 all-purpose yards and three rushing touchdowns as the Panthers beat BGA 39-14. Up next: Bye Week
5. Pearl-Cohn (5-2): The Firebirds were off last week. Up next: vs. Greenbrier (0-7)
Dropped out: BGA. Who just missed out: BGA (6-2), Macon County (6-2)
Small Class
1. Nashville Christian (6-1): The Eagles cemented themselves as the favorite in Division II-A with a dominant 45-7 road win over Columbia Academy. Georgia quarterback commitment Jared Curtis threw for 371 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 78 yards and three more touchdowns. Up next: vs. Fayetteville (2-5)
2. Westmoreland (6-1): The Eagles were off last week. Up next: vs. Smith County (2-6)
3. East Robertson (7-1): Friday night was a get-right game for the Indians and they did so in a big way routing Trousdale County 48-0. Cade Brooks had three touchdown receptions in the win. Up next: Bye Week
4. DCA (7-1): Clarksville Academy posed no threat to the Wildcats as DCA rolled to a 51-3 win. King Gardner rushed 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the win. Up next: Bye Week
5. Gordonsville (6-2): Whatever offensive woes ailed the Tigers during their two-game skid are a thing of the past. Gordonsville rolled past Red Boiling Springs 46-8. Up next: Bye Week
