Tracking the Nashville area’s unbeaten high school football teams

Nearly every area high school football team has played four games so far and most have taken on at least one region opponent to date.

It’s a good time to check on the 17 teams who have zeroes in the loss column through the season’s first month and take a look down the line at their prospects of keeping that record unblemished.

Some teams have a clear path to 10-0, while others have a fellow unbeaten in their own region or on their schedule. Either way, this list will be narrowed down considerably in the next month.

Reminder: These are the unbeaten teams purely within our 91-team coverage area. If you’re new to our site or need a refresher on that, we’ve got you covered here.

Gordonsville/DeKalb County: They’re both 4-0, but they square off in Gordonsville this week and one’s gotta fall. If Gordonsville wins, they could potentially see another unbeaten matchup on Oct. 4 when they travel to Forrest. Should DeKalb County prevail, they’ll travel to Macon County on Oct. 4 with hopes of keeping the run going.

East Robertson: The Indians survived a major scare from Monterey, and that should be their only test until their Oct. 4 showdown with Westmoreland. An Oct. 25 non-region game at White House Heritage could also provide some fireworks.

East Nashville: Having already outscored opponents 185-52 through four games, the Eagles do face a test on Sept. 27 when FRA comes calling.

Page: They’ve shut out all four opponents so far, to the tune of 115-0. Oct. 25’s matchup at Centennial is the best chance for anyone to stay with the Patriots in the regular season, let alone win. The only real question is will the defense still be unscored upon when they get there?

Oakland/Ravenwood: Oct. 25, Ravenwood at Oakland. Put it on your calendars. A loss by either one before Week 10 would be a major surprise.

Mt. Juliet/Green Hill: Oct. 31, Mt. Juliet at Green Hill. Cookeville will have a say in whether one or both teams arrive at Halloween unbeaten, though.

Kirkwood/Rossview/Clarksville: Sept. 27, Kirkwood at Rossview. Oct. 10, Kirkwood at Clarksville. Oct. 25 Clarksville at Rossview. Either one or none of these teams will finish unbeaten, and those three games will sort this region out.

DCA: The Wildcats face a tough test this week at Columbia Academy, then Mt. Pleasant (also unbeaten) at home on Oct. 4. Should they get past both, they’ll head to Nashville Christian on Halloween night for presumably a region championship tilt.

FRA/CPA/BGA: BGA and CPA play the first part of this trilogy on Thursday. FRA awaits the winner – they’re at BGA on Oct. 11 and host CPA on Oct. 25.

Ensworth: The Tigers, in Tim Hasselbeck’s first year at the helm, have a non-region game against Florida’s First Baptist Academy on Oct. 4, which could be their best test remaining this regular season.
