0 0

The final week of the TSSAA basketball season has arrived and 10 area teams have made it to Murfreesboro for state. That also means plenty of changes in this week’s area rankings were bound to happen.

Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 2A, 1A, and Division II-A.

Rankings are based on overall success and current form for each teams. While teams may have beaten each other earlier in the season, we look at the current form of teams compared to each other.

With that in mind, here’s a look at this week’s 615 Preps large and small class boys rankings:

Large Class

1. Independence (30-6): Jett Montgomery’s storied high school career will come to an end one way or another back in Murfreesboro after the Eagles crushed Beech 66-42.

2. Pope John Paul II (26-5): The Knights lost to Briarcrest Christian 76-53 in the Division II-AA state semifinals.

3. Brentwood Academy (24-8): The Eagles lost to Briarcrest Christian 80-71 in the Division II-AA state championship game.

4. Rossview (24-9): Rossview traveled to Cordova with many viewing the Hawks as massive underdogs. They didn’t play like an underdog though beating one of the Class 4A favorites 55-52 for their first ever state tournament appearance.

5. Hume-Fogg (24-4): The Hume-Fogg faitful had been waiting 35 years for a return trip back to the state tournament. That long wait came to an end last Monday as the Blue Knights beat Chester County 50-32 securing their spot in Murfreesboro.
