Postseason play is here and while most of the area’s top teams have been able to take care of business, the same can’t be said for a few others.
With a wide-variety of results so far, there’s been quite a few changes in this week’s large and small class boys basketball rankings.
Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 2A, 1A, and Division II-A.
Rankings are based on overall success and current form for each teams. While teams may have beaten each other earlier in the season, we look at the current form of teams compared to each other.
With that in mind, here’s a look at this week’s 615 Preps large and small class boys rankings:
Large Class
1. Pope John Paul II (25-4): A day after beating Ensworth by 11, the Knights got their opportunity for some revenge against Brentwood Academy for the region title. Led by 26 points from Fred Bailey and 20 from Trey Pearson, Pope got their revenge beating the Eagles 85-76.
2 Hillsboro (21-3): The District 11-4A tournament was a rollercoaster of emotions for the Burros. While they had no issues in a 68-44 win over Overton, Hillsboro found itself down most of the night in the district championship game against Cane Ridge. They would end up picking up the 55-54 win thanks to a game-winner from Cortez Graham as time expired.
3. Brentwood Academy (22-7): The Eagles put up a ton of points in each of their games against CPA and Pope but couldn’t get the defensive stops they needed in the region title game. Tyler Tanner led them in scoring each night scoring 34 against CPA and 28 against Pope
4. Independence (24-6): If you’re an Indy fan, you were likely stressing hard in each of their district tournament games. The Eagles opened the tournament needing a late rally to beat Summit 66-57. Then they rallied again to beat Ravenwood 56-52 to punch their ticket to the District 10-4A championship game.
5. Ravenwood (23-7): As frustrating as the loss to Indy may be, the week as a whole saw them win more and in blowout fashion. The Raptors closed out the regular season with a 51-27 win over Centennial and opened up the district tournament beating Nolensville 57-39.

6. Brentwood (17-10)
7. Siegel (24-4)
8. Green Hill (18-8)
9. Station Camp (20-7)
10. Hume-Fogg (19-4)
Small Class
1. PCA (25-4): Division II-A has been one of the hardest classes to figure out this season but we may have gotten a bit of clarity last week. PCA could be looked at as the favorite following a pair of dominant wins over Ezell-Harding and Goodpasture before beating Webb-Bell Buckle 48-40 for the region title.
2. Whites Creek (20-5): Douglass may be viewed as the Class 2A favorite but Whites Creek is putting the state on notice. The Cobras crushed 69-23 to set up a rematch with East Nashville for the District 7-2A title.
3. Goodpasture (25-6): The week started off with a lot of promise for the Cougars following a 69-59 win over BGA. Things quickly went downhill though thanks to an 80-65 loss to PCA in the region semis and a 90-86 double-overtime loss to Columbia Academy in the third-place game.
4. Cannon County (21-7): There’s a really good team in Woodbury playing its best ball of the season at the perfect time. The Lions have won 11 of their last 12 games opening the District 12-2A tournament with a pair of double-digit wins over Cascade and Grundy County.
5. Friendship Christian (18-9): It was a rough ending to what was an overall great year for the Commanders as they lost to Webb-Bell Buckle 60-54.
