615 Preps Girls Basketball Rankings: Goodpasture, PCA win district titles

For some schools the postseason has begun while others are set to begin postseason play next week. The end of the regular season saw some results that sparked some changes in this week’s 615 Preps area rankings.

Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 2A, 1A, and Division II-A.

Rankings are based on overall success current form for each teams. While teams may have beaten each other earlier in the season, we look at the current form of teams compared to each other.

With that in mind, here’s a look at this week’s 615 Preps large and small class girls rankings:

Large Class

1. Clarksville (25-0): For the second time in school history the Lady Wildcats finished the regular season undefeated. Miss Basketball finalist Imari Berry scored 22 points and 26 points in their Northeast (79-20) and Henry County (60-45).

2. Hillsboro (16-4): Since suffering a two-point double-overtime loss to Cane Ridge on January 25, the Lady Burros have won five straight by an average of 33.6 points. They closed out the regular season with a 71-27 win over Antioch and 61-37 win over McGavock.

3. Lebanon (21-7): The Devilettes left no doubts on the court last week putting the losses to Cookeville in that rearview. They closed out the regular season beating Stewarts Creek 63-32 and Wilson Central 81-52.

4. Page (20-7): The best team in Williamson County right now is Page and the Lady Patriots put a stamp on that fact last week. They opened the week beating Brentwood 46-36 before closing the regular season with a pair of double-digit wins over Nolensville.

5. Brentwood (21-4): They lost to Page but the Lady Bruins took their frustrations from that game out on Ravenwood in their final two games. Brentwood completed the regular season sweep over their crosstown foes with a 58-43 win and a 56-28 win.

10. Cane Ridge (14-6)

12. Hendersonville (16-8)

13. Central Magnet (20-9)

15. Macon County (17-9)

Small Class

1. Cheatham County (24-2): The Lady Cubs enter the postseason as one of the hottest, but quetest teams in the Class 2A field. Winners of 13 straight, Cheatham closed out the regular season with a 15-point win over Harpeth and 24-point win over Hickman County.

2. PCA (20-4): After opening the postseason with a 13-point win over GCA, the Lady Lions got a test in the DII-A District 3 championship against FRA. Daisy Gale and co. pulled out their seventh win in a row beating the Lady Panthers 52-44.

3. Goodpasture (20-3): A nine-point win over DCA to open the DII-A District 3 tournament was probably a closer result than many expected. The Lady Cougars quickly turned things around a night late crushing Ezell-Harding 62-26 for the district title.

4. East Robertson (19-4): The Lady Indians have been one of the best 1A teams in the Midstate most of the season and are playing their best basketball at the right time. Beating Knowledge Academies 79-13 and White House Heritage 65-49, they’ve now won 13 in a row.

5. Cannon County (22-5): Welcome to the top 5 Lionettes! Cannon County’s been on a roll since the new year started winning all but one of their games so far in 2024. They closed out the regular season beating Community 48-22 and Forrest 65-36.
