For some schools the postseason has begun while others are set to begin postseason play next week. The end of the regular season saw some results that sparked some changes in this week’s 615 Preps area rankings.
Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 2A, 1A, and Division II-A.
Rankings are based on overall success and current form for each teams. While teams may have beaten each other earlier in the season, we look at the current form of teams compared to each other.
With that in mind, here’s a look at this week’s 615 Preps large and small class boys rankings:
Large Class
1. Brentwood Academy (21-6): The Eagles have been one of the hottest teams in the area since getting upset by MBA in mid-January. They had no issues with the Big Red last week though winning that game 56-33 and closed out the regular season with an 18-point win over Lipscomb Academy.
2. Pope John Paul II (23-4): Last week consisted of nothing but double-digit wins for the Knights. They played CPA twice winning those games by an average of 22 points before getting some revenge against Lipscomb Academy with a 63-51 win.
3 Hillsboro (19-3): There’s no public school in our coverage area that’s played as well as Hillsboro over the last month. The Burros have won 14 of their last 15 games including eight straight. During the current win streak they’ve beaten opponents by an average of close to 30 points.
4. Siegel (23-3): Mt. Juliet gave the Stars a scare early in the week but Siegel was able to pull out a 10-point win. They couldn’t do the same though in their regular season finale at home with a surprising 61-45 loss to Blackman. That loss ended what was a 22-game win streak for the Stars.
5. Independence (22-6): In all of the chaos that’s surrounded District 10-4A the last few weeks, the Eagles seem to have found their footing winning six straight. Tied with Centennial and Franklin at the top of the district, the Eagles cruised past Ravenwood and Page to end the regular season.

2. PCA (22-4): After dominant wins over MTCS and Webb-Bell Buckle to open district tournament play, the Lions played a classic in the championship against Columbia Academy. They unfortunately weren’t able to complete the perfect week losing 62-60 in double overtime.
3. Whites Creek (19-5): RePublic posed no threat to the Cobras as they closed out the regular season. Whites Creek won those two meetings 80-31 & 102-33.
4. Friendship Christian (18-8): DCA and Clarksville Academy didn’t pose much of a threat to the Commanders as they set up a third meeting with Goodpasture for the DII-A District 4 title. Jayden Jones and the Cougars proved to be too much handing Friendship its lone loss of the week.
5. Ezell-Harding (19-9): Aside from a 22-point loss to Goodpasture, the Eagles had a memorable week finishing third in their district tournament with a pair of three-point wins over Davidson Academy and Clarksville Academy.
