Brentwood Academy junior quarterback George MacIntyre has committed to Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Volunteers. He chose Tennessee over the likes of Alabama, LSU, Clemson, and Michigan.

MacIntyre announced his decision during a ceremony at Brentwood Academy on Monday morning.

According to On3’s Industry Ranking, the 6-foot-5.5, 185-pound signal-caller is ranked as a five-star prospect. He’s ranked as the No. 15 recruit in the country, the No. 2 quarterback, and the No. 1 player in the state for the 2025 class.

247Sports has the highest individual ranking for MacIntrye. They rank him as the No. 9 player in the country, the No. 2 quarterback, and the state’s top player.

On3 ranks him as the No. 20 player in the country while Rivals has him at No. 27. ESPN has him at No. 40 and is the only site not to have him ranked as the state’s top player for the 2025 class.

As a junior, MacIntyre threw for 3,229 yards in 2023, completing 67.4 percent (285-for-423) of his passes. He had 25 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. On the ground, he rushed for 217 yards and three touchdowns.

He was named a Tennessee Titans Mr. Football semifinalist in 2023 as well.

As a sophomore in 2022, MacIntyre became a household name leading the Eagles to the DII-AAA semifinals. That year threw for 2,341 yards with 19 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Brentwood Academy went 2-10 in 2023. The Eagles did win their opening-round playoff game before falling to eventual champion McCallie in the second round.

Tennessee was one of the first teams to offer MacIntyre extending him an offer on August 25, 2022. He’s been a frequent visitor in Knoxville taking five different visits to campus since picking up that offer.

With his pledge, MacIntyre becomes the first five-star pledge in the Vols’ 2025 recruiting class. He’s also their first five-star quarterback commitment since Nico Iamaleava.
