615 Preps Boys Basketball Rankings: District upsets lead to mass change

0 0

We’re a week deeper into district play and some teams have started to separate themselves as the team to beat for that coveted top spot. Several results prompted a changes in this week’s large and small class boys basketball rankings.

Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 2A, 1A, and Division II-A.

Rankings are based on overall success and current form for each teams. While teams may have beaten each other earlier in the season, we look at the current form of teams compared to each other.

With that in mind, here’s a look at this week’s 615 Preps large and small class boys rankings:

Large Class

1. Siegel (17-2): In a week that saw several top teams getting upset, the Stars were able to avoid the same fate. They opened the week crushing Riverdale 66-28 and closed the week rallying late to beat Oakland 86-79 in overtime.

2. Pope John Paul II (17-2): It could be argued that the Knights had the week’s biggest win beating a red-hot Hillsboro squad 68-55 in the MBA Class Wars Classic. They also crushed Father Ryan 67-45 and Ensworth 87-64 earlier in the week.

3. Brentwood Academy (14-5): The Eagles weren’t tested in either of the wins last week beating CPA 58-27 and Blackman 55-35. Tyler Tanner scored 22 against CPA and 27 against Blackman.

4 Hillsboro (11-3): It was a busy week for the Hillsboro who went 3-1 in four games. In their wins over East Nashville, Hunters Lane and Overton, the Burros won by an average of 35 points.

5. Franklin (12-4): There’s not a hotter Williamson County team right now than the Admirals. After Opening district play with narrow wins over Brentwood and Ravenwood, they moved to 4-0 in District 10-4A beating Nolensville 46-42 and Independence 73-65.
