40 Nashville-area girls basketball players you need to see this season

We’re a few weeks into 2024 which means the girls basketball season is in full swing.

District play began the first week of the year and before we know it, postseason play will be here. Even with that in mind, there’s still plenty of season left to play.

Once again the Nashville area is loaded with talent on the girls side. The 615 Preps coverage area has plenty of talented players throughout so are the best?

After asking coaches, pulling stats and watching some film, we feel like that we have just that answer. Here are 40 players you need to go see play at some point this season.

*Note: All stats were submitted by coaches and reflect stats entering the week of January 8. Teams were limited to two selections each.

Bailey Ford, Beech, Sr.: Ford is leading the scorer for the Lady Bucs averaging 13.8 points to go along with 4.5 rebounds and 3.4 steals.

DJ Haws, BGA, Jr.: Haws has averaged close to a double-double for the Lady Wildcats at 14.3 points and 8.4 rebounds.

Ella Ryan, Brentwood, Jr.: Ryan’s one of the most dynamic players in the MidState this year shooting 35% from 3 while averaging 23.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.9 steals and 3.3 assists.

Paige Morris, Brentwood, So.: Morris is a sniper for the Lady Bruins being a constant 3-point threat. This season she’s averaging 12 points per game.

Abbilyn Teter, Cannon County, Jr.: Teter leads the Lionettes in scoring at 13.6 points per game.

Jenna Bush, Cannon County, Sr.: Bush averages close to a double-double for the Lionettes at 11.8 points and 8.1 rebounds.

Addison Melton, Central Magnet, Sr.: Melton is one of the best scorers in Murfreesboro leading the Lady Tigers at 19 points per game.

Imari Berry, Clarksville, Sr.: Berry’s not only one of the best players in the MidState, but one of the best in the entire state. A Clemson signee, she’s led the Lady Wildcats to an unbeaten start so far averaging 25.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.2 steals and 3.8 assists.

Malaya Woullard, Clarksville Academy, Sr.: Woulard does it all for the Lady Cougars averaging 17.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.3 steals.

Brinli Bain, Eagleville, Jr.: Bain averages 12.3 points per game for the Lady Eagles. A lot of those points come from beyond-the-arc as she’s connecting on 40% of her 3-point attempts.

Izzy Sawyer, Eagleville, Sr.: Like Bain, Sawyer’s averaged 12.3 points for the Lady Eagles this season. She’s also averaged 5.7 rebounds.

Allye Pennington, East Robertson, Fr.: Pennington may only be a freshman, but she’s already making an impact for the Lady Indians. So far this season she’s averaging 20.7 points on 55% shooting while connecting on 35.9% of her 3-point attempts.

Izzy Gavigan, Father Ryan, Sr.: Gavigan leads a balanced Lady Irish team averaging 11 points and 4.7 rebounds.

Ava Zenner, FRA, 8th: Part of the Lady Panthers’ standout eighth-grade duo, Zenner’s averaging 12.6 points and connecting on 36% of her 3-point attempts.

Ella Johnson, FRA, 8th: Johnson is the Lady Panthers’ leading scorer averaging 13.6 points while connecting on 35% of her 3-point shots.

Asia Sawyers, Gallatin, Sr.: Sawyers is a constant scoring threat for the Lady Waver connecting on 44.6% of her shots, 44.4% of her 3-point shots and averaging 14 points per game.

LaZaviona Hawkins, Goodpasture, Jr.: Hawkins is the Lady Cougars’ leading scorer averaging 12.7 points while also dishing out 3.8 assists to go along with 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 steals.

Natalie Kaye, Grace Christian, Sr.: A 35.1% 3-point shooter, Kaye leads the Lady Lions in scoring averaging 20.1 points per game.

Shinae Johnson, Hillsboro, Sr.: The Lady Burros are off to a great start to the season and Johnson is a large reason why. She’s averaging 14 points, four steals, four assists and four rebounds per game.

Aaliyah Flemin, Independence, Sr.: Flemin leads the Lady Eagles in scoring at 11.3 points per game.

Bella Shepherd, Lipscomb Academy, So.: Shepherd may only be a sophomore, but she’s quickly established herself as the Lady Mustangs’ top offensive threats. This season she’s averaging 16.3 points per game and six rebounds.

Maddyn Merritt, Lipscomb Academy, Jr.: Connecting on 44% of her shots, Merritt’s averaging 12.6 points this season to go along with six rebounds.

Natalie Green, Macon County, Jr.: The Tigerettes are balanced and led by Green who averages 11.8 points and 4.8 rebounds.

Jordan Brown, Maplewood, So.: The Lady Panthers have a star in Brown who is averaging 18.3 points, four assists and two steals.

Leilani Washington, Nolensville, Jr.: Washington’s proven to be one of the best players in Williamson County this season averaging 16.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

Qimara Summers, Northeast, Jr.: Summers leads the Lady Eagles averaging 15.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.8 assists.

Kendall Myree, Northwest, Sr.: Myree averages closes to a double-double for the Lady Vikings at 11.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.

Erica Perkins, Overton, So.: Perkins is second on the team in scoring for Overton averaging 11.1 points per game to go along with 2.6 assists, 2.4 steals and 2.3 rebounds.

Lily Tickle, Overton, Sr.: Tickle is one of Metro Nashville’s top scorers averaging 16.8 points per game. 

Mary Fox, Page, Jr.: Fox has taken the reins as the Lady Patriots’ leader and thrived averaging 15.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.6 spg this season.

Daisy Gale, PCA, Sr.: Gale is one of the best scorers in DII-A this season averaging a team-high 17 points per game for the Lady Lions.

Kayte Madison Bjornstad, PCA, So.: Bjornstad’s played a massive role in the Lady Lions’ hot start averaging 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Dyna’c Davis, Pearl-Cohn, Jr.: Davis does a bit of everything for the Lady Firebirds’ and is their second-leading scorer averaging 13.3 points.

Erianna Thomas, Pearl-Cohn, Sr.: Closing in on the 1,000-point career mark, Thomas is averaging 16.8 points, six assists, 5.5 rebounds and 4.3 steals this season.

Kamaria Murray, Rockvale, Sr.: Murray has missed some time due to an injury but before her injury, she was averaging 16.8 points and 7.5 rebounds.

Torri James, Rossview, Sr.: Western Kentucky’s getting a baller with James. This season she’s shooting 61% from the field averaging 16.2 points while also hauling in 8.2 rebounds.

Issie Hodge, Siegel, Jr.: Hodge leads the Lady Stars averaging 11 points, five assists and three assists.

Quinn Johnston, Summit, Sr.: Johnston’s been a consistent scoring threat for awhile now for the Lady Spartans. This year she’s averaging 15.9 points per game.

Izzy McPherson, Sycamore, Sr.: McPherson, a Chattanooga commitment, is one the best scorers in the area averaging 19.2 points. She also gets at it on the glass with 6.1 rebounds.

Baye Dobbs, Westmoreland, Sr.: Dobbs is the leading scorer for the Lady Eagles averaging 10.9 points on 62.3% shooting.
