615 Preps Girls Basketball Rankings: First rankings of the season released

1 0

For the first time in 615 Preps history, we’re dedicating our winter to covering the boys and girls basketball season in the 615.

With that in mind 615 Preps staff has put together a list of the top 15 large and small class teams in our coverage area following this season’s action so far.

Large Class teams include 4A, 3A and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 2A, 1A, and Division II-A.

Large Class

1. Clarksville (13-0): Clemson signee Imari Berry’s been on a tear scoring her 2,000th career point and leading the Lady Wildcats to an unbeaten first month of the season. They’ve had a few close calls but the Lady Wildcats have been winning by an average of 23.2 points.

2. Lebanon (11-5): The Devilettes suffered in-state losses to Clarksville (61-50), Bradley Central (62-28) and Gatlinburg-Pittman (57-44). They have one of the best area wins cruising past Brentwood 54-39 as well as an eight-point win over Cannon County and wins over Gallatin, Green Hill and Mt. Juliet.

3. Brentwood (11-1): Only Lebanon has gotten the best of the Lady Bruins this season. Brentwood’s won most of their games in blowout fashion but have been tested recently winning four of their last five games by seven points or less.

4. Father Ryan (12-2): The Lady Irish only two losses have come to Brentwood (37-33) and Parker Crossing (Ala.). Early on they look to be like the favorite to come out of Middle Tennessee and compete for the DII-AA title.

5. Ensworth (7-3): The Lady Tigers have adjusted fairly well post Jaloni Cambridge winning seven of their first eight games. They have struggled in their last two games losing to White County (57-41) and Webb-Bell Buckle (57-47).
