Oakland senior running back Ashton Jones has committed to Middle Tennessee State University. He announced the news on social media.
Jones transferred to Oakland ahead of his senior year following a pair of standout seasons at Donelson Christian Academy.
He helped lead the Patriots to their fourth straight Class 6A title appearance. In 15 games, Jones rushed for 1,235 yards and 20 touchdowns on 169 carries.
As a sophomore, Jones played a vital role in leading DCA to the DII-A title. That year, he ran for over 1,000 yards and in the title game against Nashville Christian, he ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns.
Jones followed that up his junior year rushing for 1,470 yards and 21 touchdowns.
