Two weeks of the postseason have now come and gone. As we enter Week 14 of the year, this week’s matchups will feature several fun rematches.
The 615 Preps staff has put together a list of the top five large, medium, and small class teams in our coverage area following last week’s action.
Large Class teams include 6A and Division II-AAA. Medium Class teams include 5A, 4A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 3A, 2A, 1A, and Division II-A, and each grouping has roughly 30 teams in it.
Large Class
1. Brentwood (12-0, last week’s ranking: 1): Baylor Hayes was an efficient 23-of-29 for 279 yards and three touchdowns in the Bruins’ 38-14 win over Summit. Clayton Merrill was his top target catching 13 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns. Up next: vs. Ravenwood (9-3)
2. Riverdale (10-2, last week’s ranking: No. 2): The Braden Graham to Brock Montgomery was alive and well Friday night in the Warriors’ 42-21 win over Cookeville. The two connected six times for 122 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Up next: vs. Oakland (10-2)
3. Oakland (10-2, last week’s ranking: 3): Daune Morris did what he’s done so often this season rushing for 144 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries to lead Oakland past Mt. Juliet 24-2. Up next: at Riverdale (10-2)
4. Ravenwood (9-3, last week’s ranking: 5): The Raptors were dominant defensively in their 38-9 win over Smyrna. Offensively they got a spark from sophomore quarterback Femi Babolola who was 14-of-19 passing for 134 yards, a touchdown and also ran for another touchdown. Up next: at Brentwood (12-0)
5. MBA (5-6, last week’s ranking: Not ranked): After forcing overtime late, the Big Red defense came up clutch forcing an Ensworth fumble on the Tigers’ opening drive of overtime. They avenged their regular season loss shortly afterwards on a 27-yard field goal by Liam Hackett. Up next: at McCallie (10-1)

Medium Class
1. Pearl-Cohn (12-0, last week’s ranking: 1): Up 10 with five minutes to go in the third quarter, the Firebirds exploded for 21-straight to end the quarter and secure their 41-16 win over Station Camp. Keshawn Tarleton threw for three touchdowns and also ran another in. Up next: vs. Marshall County (10-2)
2. CPA (11-1, last week’s ranking: 2): It was business as usual for the Lions in their 48-11 win over visiting USJ. Josh Mayernick paced CPA’s rushing attack with 88 yards and two touchdowns. Up next: vs. FRA (11-1)
3. Page (11-1, last week’s ranking: 3): Ethan Cunningham gashed Tullahoma’s defense for 152 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, Jonathan Palmer added two more rushing scores and the Patriots rolled to a 37-7 victory. Up next: vs. Centennial (10-2)
4. FRA (11-1, last week’s ranking: 4): The Panthers rolled into their semifinal rematch with CPA with a 50-15 win over Knox Webb. Logan Kinnard tossed three touchdowns in the win while Ty Clark III added two more touchdowns and 182 yards on the ground. Up next: at CPA (11-1)
5. Macon County (11-1, last week’s ranking: 5): The Tigers avenged last year’s postseason loss to Red Bank with a dominant 28-7 win on the road. Up next: at Upperman (12-0)

Small Class
1. MTCS (10-1, last week’s ranking: 1): Close early on, FACS had no answers for Eli Wilson once he got going. The Cougars’ Mr. Football semifinalist rushed for 247 yards and six touchdowns in a 56-28 win. Up next: at Columbia Academy (8-3)
2. Friendship Christian (10-2, last week’s ranking: 2): There was no drama in this year’s postseason matchup against DCA as the Commanders cruised to the 35-0 win. Mr. Football semifinalist Tyson Wolcott ran for 210 yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries. Up next: vs. Nashville Christian (6-6)
3. East Nashville (10-2, last week’s ranking: 3): While they gave up some points in their rematch against Stratford, the Eagles had no issues dispatching the visiting Spartans 40-14. Up next: vs. Liberty Creek (8-4)
4. Smith County (10-2, last week’s ranking: 4): Fayetteville came to ‘The Hole’ and stood no shot against the host Owls. Smith County freshman quarterback Riley Martin was 12-of-12 passing for 185 yards and four touchdowns in . Up next: vs. East Robertson (11-1)
5. East Robertson (11-1, last week’s ranking: 5): On the road against undefeated Marion County, the Indians pulled away late in the fourth winning 24-7 to secure their rematch with Smith County in the quarterfinals. Isaiah Groves was dominant again rushing for 279 yards and three touchdowns. Up next: at Smith County (10-2)
