615 Preps Week 13 Area Rankings: Pearl-Cohn, CPA continue to roll

Week 1 of the postseason has now come and gone. For the most part, the top teams in our area regardless of class took care of business and advanced to the second Friday of November.

The 615 Preps staff has put together a list of the top five large, medium, and small class teams in our coverage area following last week’s action.

Large Class teams include 6A and Division II-AAA. Medium Class teams include 5A, 4A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 3A, 2A, 1A, and Division II-A, and each grouping has roughly 30 teams in it.

Large Class

1. Brentwood (11-0, last week’s ranking: 1): Tied with Cane Ridge at the half, the Bruins broke things open in the second half securing a 28-7 win. Baylor Hayes accounted for 133 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Up next: vs. Summit (5-6)

2. Riverdale (9-2, last week’s ranking: No. 2): Braden Graham rallied from an early pick-six to throw for 375 yards and four touchdowns in a 50-13 win over Green Hill. The Warriors tallied 31 straight points after a close first quarter and a half. Up next: vs. Cookeville (8-3)

3. Oakland (9-2, last week’s ranking: 3): Daune Morris ran for 188 yards and also had 102 yards receiving in the Patriots’ 38-3 win over Gallatin. Tied at 3 after one, Oakland ended the game scoring 35 straight points. Up next: at Mt. Juliet (9-2)

4. Ensworth (8-2, last week’s ranking: 5): The Tigers enjoyed a first-round bye last week. Up next: vs. MBA (4-6)

5. Ravenwood (8-3, last week’s ranking: Not ranked): The Raptors trailed by seven at the half, but got it going in the second half to beat Stewarts Creek 28-14. Ben Hubbard paced their offense, catching 10 passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Up next: at Smyrna (7-4)

Medium Class

1. Pearl-Cohn (11-0, last week’s ranking: 1): Three was the magic number for the Firebirds in a 42-2 win over Lexington. Javion Kinnard rushed three times for 134 yards and two touchdowns while D’Arious Reed hauled in three receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown. Up next: vs. Station Camp (6-5)

2. CPA (10-1, last week’s ranking: 2): There wasn’t a ton CAK could do to find a way to slow down CPA as Ingle Martin’s squad cruised to the second round with a 42-6 win. Up next: vs. USJ (7-4)

3. Page (10-1, last week’s ranking: 3): Page had secured its spot in the second round midway through the first quarter against Franklin County. The Patriots cruised to a 50-14 win and led 44-0 at the half. Up next: vs. Tullahoma (8-3)

4. FRA (10-1, last week’s ranking: 4): Silverdale Academy limited Ty Clark to only 79 yards on the ground but they couldn’t keep him out of the end zone. Clark finished the night with three touchdowns in the Panthers 35-6 win. Up next: vs. Knox Webb (10-1)

5. Macon County (10-1, last week’s ranking: 5): Between what he did on the ground and four receptions, Gabe Borders accounted for over 150 yards of total offense and three touchdowns in a dominant 41-7 win over Loudon. Up next: vs. Red Bank (8-3)

Small Class

1. MTCS (9-1, last week’s ranking: 1): The Cougars enjoyed a first-round bye last week. Up next: vs. FACS (9-2)

2. Friendship Christian (9-2, last week’s ranking: 2): In a half of action, Tyson Wolcott ran for 131 yards and four touchdowns. The Commanders rolled to a 42-14 win over Fayette Academy. Up next: vs. DCA (7-4)

3. East Nashville (9-2, last week’s ranking: 3): The Eagles got off to a bit of a slow start, but once they got going, they never looked back in rolling to a 40-0 win over Cheatham County. Up next: vs. Stratford (6-5)

4. Smith County (9-2, last week’s ranking: 4): The Owls tied their second-highest scoring total of the year Friday night, crushing Forrest 40-14. Up next: vs. Fayetteville (6-5)

5. East Robertson (10-1, last week’s ranking: 5): Week 1 of the postseason was a complete success for the Indians, who cruised to a 42-0 win over Cascade. Isaiah Groves continued to do Isaiah Groves things rushing for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Up next: at Marion County (11-0)
