615 Preps Week 11 Area Rankings: Oakland, Riverdale set for memorable Battle of the ‘Boro

Week 10 was a lot of fun but Week 11 is likely to be the best week of the regular season. Rivalry week has arrived and several of this week’s games feature ranked matchups.

The 615 Preps staff has put together a list of the top five large, medium, and small class teams in our coverage area following last week’s action.

Large Class teams include 6A and Division II-AAA. Medium Class teams include 5A, 4A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 3A, 2A, 1A, and Division II-A, and each grouping has roughly 30 teams in it.

Large Class

1. Brentwood (9-0, last week’s ranking: 1): Defense was king for the Bruins on Friday night as they held Independence to 123 total yards of offense in a dominant 28-0 win. Gavyn Nelson was the difference-maker on offense rushing for 104 yards and two touchdowns. Up next: vs. Ravenwood (7-2)

2. Oakland (8-1, last week’s ranking: 2): Down by 12 early on, the Patriots rattled off 35 straight points and ended up cruising to a 42-18 win over Ravenwood. Ashton Jones scored twice on the ground while Daune Morris added another rushing touchdown. Up next: vs. Riverdale (7-2)

3. Riverdale (7-2, last week’s ranking: Not ranked): The Braden Graham to Brock Montgomery continued to thrive in a 49-7 win over Siegel. They connected for 129 yards and touchdowns as Graham finished the night 21-of-26 for 264 yards and two touchdowns. Up next: at Oakland (8-1)

4. Clarksville (9-0, last week’s ranking: No. 4): With a 28-7 win over Rossview, the Wildcats clinched the Region 7-6A title and are now a win away from their first-ever 10-0 season. Trey Youngs ran for a pair of touchdowns in the win. Up next: vs. Northeast (0-9)

5. Ensworth (7-2, last week’s ranking: Not ranked): The Tigers traveled west picking up a 21-12 win over Briarcrest Christian. Max Holtzclaw threw for 119 yards and accounted for two total touchdowns. Up next: at Brentwood (9-0)

Dropped out: Mt. Juliet. Who just missed out: Mt. Juliet (8-1), Ravenwood (7-2)

Medium Class

1. Pearl-Cohn (9-0, last week’s ranking: 1): Keshawn Tarleton was a model of efficiency in a 56-6 win over White House completing 9 of his 11 passes for for 192 yards and four touchdowns. Three of those touchdown passes went to D’Arious Reed. Up next: vs. Marshall County (9-1)

2. CPA (8-1, last week’s ranking: 3): Rawls Patterson scored twice and the Lions’ defense accounted for five interceptions as they avenged last year’s one-point loss to FRA with a 24-7 win of their own. Up next: vs. Davidson Academy (8-1)

3. Page (8-1, last week’s ranking: No. 4): Eric Hazzard and Co. caused chaos all night for the Cougars offense racking up several sacks including six in the first half. Ethan Cunningham paces Page’s offensive attack in the 24-12 win rushing for 158 yards and a touchdown. Up next: vs. Nolensville (8-1)

4. FRA (8-1, last week’s ranking: 2): Ty Clark accounted for 131 total yards and scored a touchdown but five turnovers doomed the Panthers at CPA. Up next: at Pope Prep (3-6)

5. Davidson Academy (8-1, last week’s ranking: Not ranked): Knox Roberts threw for three touchdowns, Caden Stroud scored twice on the ground and the Bears were all-around dominant in a 54-10 win over Goodpasture. Up next: at CPA (8-1)

Dropped out: Centennial. Who just missed out: Centennial (7-2), Macon County (7-1), Nolensville (7-1)

Small Class

1. MTCS (8-1, last week’s ranking: 1): Eli Wilson would not be stopped in a 41-0 win over PCA rushing for 200 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 36 yards and a touchdown. Up next: vs. Ezell-Harding (4-5)

2. Friendship Christian (7-2, last week’s ranking: 2): The Tyson Wolcott show just kept on rolling in a dominant 41-0 win over Ezell-Harding. Wolcott finished the night with 272 yards and five touchdowns on 29 carries. Up next: vs. TKA (0-9)

3. East Nashville (7-2, last week’s ranking: 3): For the first time this season the Eagles got to play at home and did not disappoint their fans crushing RePublic 45-0. Up next: vs. Stratford (5-4)

4. Smith County (7-2, last week’s ranking: 4): The Owls were off last week. Up next: vs. Monterey (5-4)

5. East Robertson (8-1, last week’s ranking: 5): All Isaiah Groves does is rush for more than 200 yards most nights and score touchdowns. He finished with 286 yards on the ground and three total touchdowns in a 49-21 win over White House Heritage. Up next: vs. Jackson County (3-6)

Dropped out: None. Who just missed out: Grace Christian (5-3)
