615 Preps Week 10 Area Rankings: CPA, FRA set for massive DII-AA showdown

Fall Break hit hard this week with several of the area’s top teams having the week off. That will quickly change though as Week 10 features some of the best matchups for the entire season.

The 615 Preps staff has put together a list of the top five large, medium, and small class teams in our coverage area following last week’s action.

Large Class teams include 6A and Division II-AAA. Medium Class teams include 5A, 4A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 3A, 2A, 1A, and Division II-A, and each grouping has roughly 30 teams in it.

Large Class

1. Brentwood (8-0, last week’s ranking: 1): The Bruins were off last week. Up next: vs. Independence (5-3)

2. Oakland (7-1, last week’s ranking: 2): It was another dominant defensive performance for the Patriots as they shut out Coffee County 42-0. Daune Morris ran for 99 yards and a touchdown while Ashton Jones added 67 more rushing yards and two touchdowns. Up next: at Ravenwood (7-1)

3. Mt. Juliet (8-0, last week’s ranking: No. 3): Down 28-7 at the half, the Golden Bears mounted a furious fourth-quarter comeback and rallied to beat Lebanon 38-31 in double overtime. Harrison Edwards paced Mt. Juliet’s offense with 202 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries while Tyler Travers added two more touchdowns on the ground and one through the air. Up next: vs. Franklin (0-7)

4. Clarksville (8-0, last week’s ranking: No. 4): The Wildcats were off last week. Up next: vs. Rossview (6-2)

5. Ravenwood (7-1, last week’s ranking: No. 5): The Raptors were off last week. Up next: vs. Oakland (7-1)

Medium Class

1. Pearl-Cohn (8-0, last week’s ranking: 1): The Firebirds were off last week. Up next: vs. White House (5-3)

2. FRA (8-0, last week’s ranking: 2): The Panthers were off last week. Up next: at CPA (7-1)

3. CPA (7-1, last week’s ranking: 3): The Lions were off last week. Up next: vs. FRA (8-0)

4. Page (7-1, last week’s ranking: No. 5): The Patriots were off last week. Up next: vs. Centennial (7-1)

5. Centennial (7-1, last week’s ranking: 4): The Cougars were off last week. Up next: at Page (7-1)

Dropped out: None. Who just missed out: Davidson Academy (7-1), Macon County (7-1), Nolensville (7-1)

Small Class

1. MTCS (7-1, last week’s ranking: 1): The trio of Yates Geren, Sky Murphy and Eli Wilson combined to rush for 414 yards and six touchdowns in the Cougars’ 47-7 win over TKA. Up next: vs. PCA (4-4)

2. Friendship Christian (6-2, last week’s ranking: 2): Tyson Wolcott found the end zone again but it was the lone touchdown of the night for the Commanders as they lost an 8-7 defensive slugfest with York Institute. Up next: vs. Ezell-Harding (4-4)

3. East Nashville (6-2, last week’s ranking: 3): The Eagles were off last week. Up next: vs. RePublic (0-7)

4. Smith County (6-2, last week’s ranking: 4): The Owls took another step towards clinching the top spot in Region 3-2A with a dominant 27-0 win over Westmoreland. It was the second game in a row where Smith County posted a shutout and third this season. Up next: Open Date

5. East Robertson (7-1, last week’s ranking: 5): The Indians were off last week. Up next: vs. White House Heritage (5-3)
