Several teams may have been off last week due to fall break but that doesn’t mean Week 8 wasn’t loaded with action.
The 615 Preps staff has put together a list of the top five large, medium, and small class teams in our coverage area following last week’s action.
Large Class teams include 6A and Division II-AAA. Medium Class teams include 5A, 4A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 3A, 2A, 1A, and Division II-A, and each grouping has roughly 30 teams in it.
Large Class
1. Brentwood (8-0, last week’s ranking: 1): Johnny Silvestri recorded not one, not two but three interceptions as the Bruins beat Centennial 28-21 in a battle of unbeaten Williamson County teams. Baylor Hayes was efficient on offensive going 14-of-18 passing for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Up next: Open Week
2. Oakland (6-1, last week’s ranking: 2): The Patriots were off last week. Up next: vs. Coffee County (1-6)
3. Mt. Juliet (7-0, last week’s ranking: No. 3): The Golden Bears were off last week. Up next: vs. Lebanon (5-2)
4. Clarksville (8-0, last week’s ranking: No. 4): The Wildcats set a school record for most points in a season racking up 62 more in a 62-6 win over Kirkwood. James Dalrymple paced a potent Wildcats rushing attack with 172 yards and two touchdowns. Up next: Open Week
5. Ravenwood (7-1, last week’s ranking: No. 5): Franklin made it close at the end but a quick start was enough for Ravenwood to beat the Admirals 41-28 for their seventh consecutive win. Davis Dowland paced the Raptors’ offense with 138 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Up next: Open Week

Medium Class
1. Pearl-Cohn (8-0, last week’s ranking: 1): All Javion Kinnard needed was four touches to rack up three touchdowns as Pearl Cohn shut out Greenbrier 35-0 for its fourth shut out in a row. Kinnard had touchdown runs of 25 and 93 yards to go along with a 70-yard touchdown reception. Up next: Open Week
2. FRA (8-0, last week’s ranking: 2): Ty Clark did Ty Clark things, rushing for 217 yards and three touchdowns to go along with two receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers’ 61-20 win over BGA. Logan Kinnard was efficient in the passing game as well, going 8-of-12 for 267 yards and four touchdowns Up next: Open Week
3. CPA (7-1, last week’s ranking: 3): Josh Mayernick had touchdown runs of 64 and 55 yards while Rawls Patterson added three more rushing touchdowns in the Lions’ 52-14 win over Antioch. Up next: Open Week
4. Page (7-1, last week’s ranking: No. 5): William Wiebush posted a career night, scoring a pair of defensive touchdowns off of a fumble and interception as well as a rushing touchdown in the Patriots’ 35-7 win over Hillsboro. Up next: Open Week
5. Centennial (7-1, last week’s ranking: 4): Dominic Reed scored twice to keep the Cougars within striking distance for most of the night, but five turnovers doomed Centennial in its seven-point loss to Brentwood. Up next: Open Week

Small Class
1. MTCS (6-1, last week’s ranking: 1): The Cougars were off last week. Up next: at TKA (0-7)
2. Friendship Christian (6-1, last week’s ranking: 2): The Commanders were off last week. Up next: vs. York Institute (6-1)
3. East Nashville (6-2, last week’s ranking: 3): After back-to-back losses, the Eagles found their way back into the win column by beating Cane Ridge 42-13. Up next: Open Week
4. Smith County (6-2, last week’s ranking: 4): Dominant from the jump, the Owls bounced back from their shut out loss to Upperman by shutting out Jackson County 40-0. Up next: at Westmoreland (3-4)
5. East Robertson (7-1, last week’s ranking: 5): The Indians got a much-needed 35-0 win over Trousdale County following back-to-back weeks where the offense struggled to put points up. Isaiah Groves led the way totaling 295 yards and four touchdowns on the night. Up next: Open Week
